Children’s Trust New Chair has Connections --- HealthConnections. By ChildAdvocate

The Children's Trust’s newly elected chair is Citrus Health Network’s COO, Maria Alonso.

The real news is not Ms. Alonzo’s election, but the fact the Trust Board elected someone to be Chairperson who represents an agency that is funded as one of the providers of the Trust's HealthConnect programs (and other programming). What more does the Trust Board have to do to result in a conflict of interest for the Children’s Trust?

I wonder, is it fair for other agencies to have to compete against Citrus Health for Children’s Trust funding? It must stink to be them. While we are thinking about competing for dollars...
How about the Citrus Health service activity numbers? Is Citrus Health meeting the contract goals for participation or are they doing contract revisions to shore up their new President’s numbers? The Trust auditors and contract managers will be stepping lightly around that agency’s offices.

Does this election show why the Children’s Trust dollars are going to pregnant women and public school clinics and not into after school programs and summer camps?

Now that funding is permanent, has the Trust done a bait and switch on taxpayers, shifting around their focus and funding?

Let's see?

A board chair that works for the agency that puts the clinics in a fellow board member (Mr. Calvo's) school system.

The board chair and others on the board have agencies which are funded by the trust. Do they get audited by the employees that they can eliminate by writing that Trust Department out of the Trust Budget?

Like this author said, "It stinks to be them" in reference to the other agencies who are competing against the favored people.

What does the word "Trust" mean to people in this county?

I didn't vote for this mess.

Errr. Mr. Carvalho is the guy. Sorry.

So school board chairman Carvalho is a board member of the trust. And the school system gets money from the Trust? That seems bad policy. If all these board members have funding trust connections - get money from the trust - how can they be impartial?

Stealing from poor sick children.

"The United States' concept of justifiable homicide in criminal law stands on the dividing line between an excuse, justification and an exculpation. In other words, it takes a case that would otherwise have been a murder or another crime representing intentional killing, and either excuses or justifies the individual accused from all criminal liability or treats the accused differently from other intentional killers."

This is exactly why fixing the membership on the CITT won't work. Boards are made up of the connected and, in this case the funded are taking charge of the funds.

This board was given as a model of how good a board could be. It isn't a very good model.

The chidren's Trust PAC spent $1,708,239 to get this passed by the voters...obscene.

Ouchie, my wallet said...

If the PAC spent that kind of money, it's no wonder it passed in all but 2 precincts with a high number of votes. At least we had some folks in the county that were questioning the vote. Wonder who those guys are?

Can you imagine if the PAC money was spent on an endowment for the Trust? If they raised that much money last year why can't they raise money every year? Oh wait, they don't have raise money, they have us.

It makes me wonder what made the PAC (ie: Board members) so nervous that it required them to develop that kind of political campaign? Were they thinking they weren't doing their job and the public would guess it and vote against them?

You have to add another 4 million+ public relations budget for the actual Trust to understand how much was really spent on 2008 publicity for the Trust. So, was 6 million dollars spent for public relations last year with their knowing that the budget was going down the tubes the coming year?

There are many existing conflicts of interest wihtin The Children's Trust in the past and present. Such as a relationship with Mo and a grant writer. The grant writer wrote proposals that were approved, and she was a subcontractor for those Children's Trust providers. This grant writter was also allowed to review grants for the competing providers and score them.

I have just received the seven page letter that an annonymous employee has written about every employee at The Children's Trust, including how they have 2 sets of books, one for auditors (fake) and one that is real, the abuse of sick leave policy and falsification of leave submissions, employees drunk on the job, use of profanity and countless law suits and EEOC cases filed against the Trust. They call the CEO a wishy-washy, spineless, vacillating, weak, clueless, detached, lacking respect and credibility who bends the rules because of political tactics, ethnic and otherwise - knowing a County Attorney sits on their Board they can get away with anything including Charles Aushlander screaming at Robert Myers during an ethics class. The financial reporting discrepencies and the multiple streams of fiscal data that are in conflict with each other. Some managers at The Trust have placed illegal restrictions, unter threat of retribution, regarding specific individuals her employees may associate with, speak to, have lunch with an be seen with. So many employees have been harassed, ssen hysterically crying, meltdowns in restrooms, parking decks and stairwells who has no other alternative to resign with other falled employees on the Trust Memorial Wall. Their in house so-called lobbyist is a known liar, calculator and manipulator who we call ladynasty is extremely incompetent and rides the shirtails of others and gets credit where none is deserved. Employees working from home for months at a time and Communications Manager who lacks any respect for her peers, subordinates but has full support of CEO, her justification is that she manages the "cuban" way, she has total vulgarity in speech, crassness, ethnic prjudice and belligerence are her trademarks.....I wish I could get this letter to you because this is only the first paragraph I am sending....

People: You can post unsubstantiated things about people....I have had to delete them....I suggest you go to the Miami Herald or New Times and have them investigate.

We would love to go to The Miami Herald but a certain person involved with the Trust blocks any bad press......He has too much control !!!!!

We urge employees, current and former to send as much evidence as they have to the Miami New Times

The CEO and his cohorts needs to go - then maybe I could possibly think it was a legitimate organization - until then - its a smokescreen !!!!
