FDOT: Spending taxpayer money on dead trees ... by gimleteye

Maybe it is stimulus money. But it's hard to stimulate something that's dead. What is up with all the crap trees being paid for and planted at Miami International Airport and around the county?

They look like they could use a miracle. Maybe the landscaper is hoping for an early hurricane so he can blame the dead trees on an act of God.

Oh...you mean you gotta water them? Let me guess, in typical Miami Dade style, there is budget for trees but no budget to water them.

Hey, they're not dead - check out those 2x4 arial root systems. :-\

As is typical in our area the tree company pays off the people who make decisions and then they get paid to do whatever they want. In this case they plant dead trees.

Because the city of Miami, county and state pay little to no money for maintenance.

The city of North Miami does this same thing - they show up out of the blue in front of your house one morning, dig an arbitrary hole in the swale, throw a tree in and leave - no flyer to the homeowner on how to feed and care for the tree - 1 year later they come by and remove the tie down lines - meanwhile 80% of the trees on my block were dead - either dead going into the hole or dead thru negligence..Mayor Burns the "green mayor" -- ha! The city of North Miami is a wreck and getting wreckier by the minute.
