The Marjory Stoneman Douglas Festival (Feb 23 to 26) in Everglades City is an educational program of events covering the unique Everglades. From Miami, it is a great ride across the Everglades on Tamiami Trail. Don't miss it. The Museum of the Everglades will host presentations, guided walks, boat rides, canoe trips and a special luncheon, where Dr Jack E, Davis will present and sign his new book "An Everglades Providence". On March 7, Friends of the Everglades -- the organization founded by Marjory Stoneman Douglas in 1969 to protest the planned commercial airport in the Everglades-- is hosting its annual Gladeswalk. I will be there. Meet up at Shark Valley, halfway across the Everglades on Tamiami Trail, at 8:00AM with walking or running gear or bicycles. It's a great time of year to spend a morning in the Everglades and see what the fuss is all about, to save this incredible resource.

I've been jonesing to get out of this filthy place, and Naples to Key West were already serious possible destinations. This would fit in nicely. I've not plodded through the Everglades in 10 years.
You guys would have to promise to keep the rabid Neocons on a leash, however.
Thanks for the heads up.
