More Money Down the Drain: $3,000,000. By Geniusofdespair

I believe I read it in the Miami Herald that it is going to cost 3 million dollars to do the countywide runoff for the property appraiser slot. What do you think turnout will be, 5%? Why don't we just pay them both the salary and ask them to stay home. The staff is going to run things anyway. This is a good argument against getting 50% or more of the vote to win. Should we just declare the one with the most votes the winner and avoid runoffs to save money?

Here's the result of those that voted to elect the Property Appraiser -more tax payer dollars wasted on the same political shenanigans.

What was the purpose of making the property appraiser office, political, in the first place? Shame on them all.

If they just held the election in August, they could have done a run-off in November. No money wasted.

Norman Braman PLEASE help our County!! We need term limits for the County Commision! PLEASE start a petition drive the voters will sign it and the voters will support term limits. The Commision has no intrest in protecting our tax dollars! You lost the battle (with your lawsuits)we can win the war with Term Limits! We need 2 year terms with with two term limits. That would change our County FOREVER! Please help Mr. Braman we did NOT have to spend 3 million for the Election and waste taxpayer dollars the Commisioners must be term limited out of Office!

I would rather see a petition drive to ban campaign contributions from anyone or any interest doing business with the county or asking for zoning changes within a year month period of a county election.

Serious campaign finance reform is the only answer. Otherwise you will exchange one special interest candidate for another. Special interest candidates get the big campaign bucks and will steamroll any honest challenger.

Does anyone really think the property appraiser is a public servant? This is a County Commission Servant, keeping appraisals as high as possible despite plunging property values so the BCC idiots can waste more money on Souto's rodeo and Seijas' donations to Homestead's Farmers Insurance Co. and Jordan can demand any project anywhere in the county needs to build something in her district with her constituents as employees. TOTAL FARCE, this whole act should be taken to the Arsht Center, except nobody would go unless they got free tickets. Term limits, two terms four years, you're gone. Process is tired and so is the thinking on the dais. Now for how I really feel, YUCK!!!
