Florida is Tops in the Country: Double the National Average in Foreclosures. By Geniusofdespair

In the column More homeowners are falling behind on their mortgage payments as the foreclosure rate in Florida soared to nearly double the national average Monica Hatcher reports:

“The number of failing Florida home loans continued to rise in the second quarter, with more than 78,500 new homes in jeopardy of being repossessed by lenders, according to an industry report released Friday.” and:
“The percentage of Florida home loans in foreclosure was higher than in any other state in the country and almost double the national average.”

Number one! Way to go with all that sprawl! Notice they say "NEW" homes.

And a special thanks goes to:

Shoma Homes
Century
and all the other builders and lobbyists who helped us win this special recognition with their unrelenting pissing away of our farm land and open space by filling them up with track houses.

This information should alert people that the housing/mortgage/banking problems are far from stabilizing. We have a long way to go before anything positive will happen.
Why on earth would the Miami Dade UDB need to be moved when there is such a glut of homes and apartments for sale?
