What is Wrong with Richard Steinberg (running for Dan Gerber's State House Seat)? By Geniusofdespair

He may be an okay guy but Steinberg's mailings are completely out of control and taking a toll on voters. Steinberg is running against Joe Geller; these seasoned politicians are running for Dan Gelber's seat, District 106, State Representative. (The Miami Herald endorsed Geller.)

My friend showed me all the Steinberg's mailers he received in the past month... big glossy, full color fold-overs. I was floored by the volume. The titles:

1. He’s more than an innocent face.
2. Friend thinks he is missing one here.
3. Richard Steinberg is a Big Brother to Nick.
4. Tallahassee Syndrome
5. Richard Steinberg has a Vision for Our Future
6. From our Youngest Generation to our Greatest Generation (old couple pictured)
7. Are you a Super Voter (where he prints a birthdate as well as telephone number of the voter, on the outer page of brochure, which made my friend really mad).

Here is a question Richard: why are you spending so much money on a state representative position and where did the money come from to fund so many expensive mailings? These mailings make you seem: 1) Too Rich 2) Strange 3) Like a money waster to all the seniors getting it 4) Connected to a lot of money people.

My friend was going to vote for Steinberg but he now believes the candidate is wasting money and is actually thinking of voting for 1-brochure-Joe Geller.

Steinberg is backed by some very bad people. We have to vote for the guy I do not know, Joe Geller.

Let's not get carried away here romanticising Geller as some kind of underdog. He is the Mayor of North Bay Village, a former Chair of the Dade Democratic Party and fomer member of the Democratic National Committee. His brother is State Senator Steve Geller and he spent nearly $300,000 eight years ago when he lost this same race to Dan Gelber.

Not happy with this race.

I've known Joe Geller for many years and can tell you that he'll make a great state representative.

As Democratic Party Chair he led Dade Democrats to presidential victories in 1992 and 1996.

He's been a great mayor - just ask pretty much anyone from North Bay Village.

The Miami Herald recently endorsed Joe saying:"Mr. Geller, 54, and his maturity, passion and experience tilt the balance in his favor."
