Katy Sorenson Says, Let's End The Legal Showdown Over UDB. By Geniusofdespair

Press release August 21st:
Commissioner Sorenson is sponsoring a resolution to reverse the Board of County Commissioners vote to move the Urban Development Boundary. Florida’s Department of Community Affairs has found the County out of compliance with applicable laws and has begun an administrative hearing that could result in severe sanctions for the County. She said:

“Now, in a difficult budget year, is not the time for precious County resources to be used defending land use decisions on behalf of developers. DCA’s action ensures that the County will be involved in long, costly litigation defending the commission’s decision to move the Urban Development Boundary. I don’t think that’s how our citizens want their tax money spent.”

Should be an interesting commission meeting!

Either way we get sued... by the state or the developers.

It would have been nice if the commissioners had avoided the whole issue by sticking by the rules to start with.

Thanks Katy for some common sense on the UDB. While your at it. How about putting a nix on leaseing the CSX corridor from CSX (Corperate wellfair!!)in Kendall to put a bus lane to service Parkland and Krome gold ranches(Developers wellfair!!). That does not address the needs of the people in the Kendall area.It would make more sence to use the lanes on existing roads and those extra lanes that are being built on 874 for buses. Please try to rethink a more cost effective solution. P.S. Give the teachers their raise with the money you save.

While you're at it, why not include term-limits for the commissioners?

Term Limits is the way to go -
and we mean GO!
Commissioner Sorenson is on the right track as is Whilly Bermudez as he walks door-to-door in District 11 gaining momentum over lil joe mart.

We are going to CLEAN this county up in the next 4 years.
History was made when we approved the Strong Mayor initiative and that was just the beginning.

CLEAN UP MIAMI

Gimleteye writes:

So it appears that Commissioner Sorenson's measure is getting bottled up in Seijas' committee on government operations AFTER the August 26th election.

I hope that every challenger to incumbents is able to get in front of the public, the request that incumbents should say BEFORE the election how they will vote on the Sorenson measure.

This is an opportunity NOT TO BE MISSED in any media appearances before the election!
