The Miami Herald Sucks: Again. By Geniusofdespair

There was an article in the Miami Herald Thursday about what they called "a Massive West Kendall development." The article said:

"...the 6,900-home project planned for 960 acres on the county's western edge is now under an extensive months long review by the county. Parkland 2012, a Lennar development that could bring thousands of homes, condos and offices, plus a high school, police and fire station to 960 acres just west of Country Walk and outside the urban development boundary..."

Reporter Yudy Pineiro states further:
"The project is a ''development of regional impact,'' so sweeping in scope that it requires a separate, more in-depth review."

The project is so large that 3 Counties have to approve it because it has regional impact.

So if this project is that large and "sweeping in scope", why did the Miami Herald not report it to the ENTIRE county? Why was it in the "Neighbors Section" and not in the "Metro Section"? Again, I hate the Neighbor's Section, and this is an example why. Big news is buried, yet again.

I think were are seeing the results of yuong reporters, the herald being understaffed and too many sections to the paper...

Maybe it is time to bring the neighbors section back into the local news and actually pretend like the county is a whole news market.

It irritates me to no end to have to deal with browards issues in the local news here... Do a Broward edition and Dade one and get rid of the neighbors.

Let community news do the local local local stuff and the herald do the neighbors stuff in a larger venue.I do care what happens in Kendall as well as Miami Gardens... But I have to go on line to find it. It is dumb.

Lets give Yudy a break.
She is young, but very involved in the Kendall area and deserves credit for putting up with some of us who attend reguar CAC, CC & KFHA meetings.
We are a bunch of sore loosers and angry anglos complaining about everything that goes on in east & west Kendall.

It's time we started looking at the Community Council Members who are the ones letting developers buy their vote.

Why is it readers don't read the posts but comment on them? The reporter did a bang up job and I never mentioned one word about the reporter. I am upset with the Herald. The article should have been in the main paper as this was a REGIONAL ISSUE -- REGIONAL ISSUE HERALD GET IT. The reporter did fine. So whomever wrote that anonymous comment read the post again.

Can a bankrupt Lennar build this thing and sell any? Yes, the speculators will eat it up. Just what we need, more section 8 in West Kendall.

I didn't say anything negative about Yudy, either. She happens to be younger than some of us :( But she is smart, overworked and underpaid.

Yudy needs to be on the main paper. She takes her job seriously and she is out in the communities she writes about.

The point is you can't take a brand spanking new reporter and expect miracles. And the herald hires the young ones to save money.

What ever happened to Outsourcing the editors?
