I read the entire Miami Herald today by Geniusofdespair

I could not find anything to write about in the Miami Herald. The only thing that caught my attention was this cartoon by Jim Morin because I too am hoping Gore runs:

I lost all respect for Gore during his run. His running mate was the first problem. His campaign was poorly orchestrated. He never used Clinton properly. Two weeks after the election, two huge room fulls of literature arrived here in Miami. Bush V Gore was mishandled.

If Obama was white, he would win hands down. He is in a category all by himself. Hillary won't win, she will only set it up and make it possible for another Republican to win. I am sure the Republicans want, and will pay for her to be the nominee.

Edwards is the only hope for Democrats to get the Presidency. Otherwise, we have another 4 or 8 years of Republican leadership, and continuation of the war.

I hope Al Gore runs too!

Anonymous, do you respect Al Gore anymore now that's he's won the Noble Prize?

What is it about John Edwards that you like? Aside from his super haircut, of course ;)

I guess he should be respected just about as much as Yasir Arafat.

I have to think that most of those that want him to run its mainly out of simpathy because they feel the election was stolen from him. He should keep doing what he's doing he's obviously a very smart man but not necessarily a good politician. I was hoping Barack would get the nomination but it doesnt look that way. If the democrats have to look to Gore who couldnt win his home state they are in trouble.

Hillary won't cut it. She voted for the war and will not back down from that critical mistake. No one will vote for a president with a name that sounds foreign. Democrats are screwed.

Hey Eye,

Just wanted to let you know I've got this little website up about elections on Miami Beach. Check www.doublethevote.com. It's a small effort done on a shoe-string, but perhaps you'll check it out and let me know what you think. Suggestions, support, or useful criticism welcome.

I will vote for the person who pops up with a good plan to end the war and do something about the leaky borders.

We need some Federal common sense for our community. Do you think we are not going to have a boatlift when castro dies? Why do you think there are plans for a Tent City in the area around the airbase (ie: naranja)? What about south america? Dictators are popping up all over the place? whos paying attention? And are those exiles going?

Gore gets a cold shoulder
Steve Lytte

ONE of the world's foremost meteorologists has called the theory that helped Al Gore share the Nobel Peace Prize "ridiculous" and the product of "people who don't understand how the atmosphere works".

Dr William Gray, a pioneer in the science of seasonal hurricane forecasts, told a packed lecture hall at the University of North Carolina that humans were not responsible for the warming of the earth.

His comments came on the same day that the Nobel committee honoured Mr Gore for his work in support of the link between humans and global warming.

"We're brainwashing our children," said Dr Gray, 78, a long-time professor at Colorado State University. "They're going to the Gore movie [An Inconvenient Truth] and being fed all this. It's ridiculous."

At his first appearance since the award was announced in Oslo, Mr Gore said: "We have to quickly find a way to change the world's consciousness about exactly what we're facing."

Mr Gore shared the Nobel prize with the United Nations climate panel for their work in helping to galvanise international action against global warming.

But Dr Gray, whose annual forecasts of the number of tropical storms and hurricanes are widely publicised, said a natural cycle of ocean water temperatures - related to the amount of salt in ocean water - was responsible for the global warming that he acknowledges has taken place.

However, he said, that same cycle meant a period of cooling would begin soon and last for several years.

"We'll look back on all of this in 10 or 15 years and realise how foolish it was," Dr Gray said.

During his speech to a crowd of about 300 that included meteorology students and a host of professional meteorologists, Dr Gray also said those who had linked global warming to the increased number of hurricanes in recent years were in error.

He cited statistics showing there were 101 hurricanes from 1900 to 1949, in a period of cooler global temperatures, compared to 83 from 1957 to 2006 when the earth warmed.

"The human impact on the atmosphere is simply too small to have a major effect on global temperatures," Dr Gray said.

He said his beliefs had made him an outsider in popular science.

"It bothers me that my fellow scientists are not speaking out against something they know is wrong," he said. "But they also know that they'd never get any grants if they spoke out. I don't care about grants."

It doesn't matter how much revisionist historians slice it, Bush won Florida fairly. It was Gore who tried to steal it. And great post by moderate. How arrogant of mankind to think that it can control the weather!

I see Obama eventually as a supreme court justice. . . an extremely bright legal mind. With his intellect and charisma he would be an exceptional President. But other factors are at play in the popular vote, otherwise how could we have elected a dummy like Bush? Having lived with almost 8 years of his work, we now as a nation look like imbeciles to the rest of the world.

Gus Moore,

Running for President and winning the Nobel Prize are two distinctively different and independent quests. Different skill sets, resources, talents, support, performance measures, etc. are required for each one. My opinion of his ability to run for President, remains unchanged. I am happy, however, that he won the Nobel Prize for his work on global warming.
