Saturday Speak-up. Chicken Anyone? by Geniusofdespair

Anything you have on your mind, today is your day to vent, without going overboard, of course. Anything going on in your neighborhood we should know about? Like the news in Hallandale Beach which is important because Miami-Dade will be voting on slots very soon....Slots no financial jackpot, Hallandale Beach gripes:

"In August, the 1,166 slots at Mardi Gras netted $5.8 million in revenues, state records show. That's about $163 per machine.
The state collected its share of 50 percent -- or $2.9 million -- while the city received $98,600, or 1.7 percent."

But in more important news, on the wacky Miami front:

If you dress in yellow and cluck at the cashier, you get a free chicken meal today at Pollo Tropical. Gotta go and cluck.

Seems like a lot to go through for a $3.30
1/4 chicken value meal.

But if your inclined you can borrow my long yellow rain slicker.
Can't help you with yellow shoes.

Pollo Tropical(R) will provide
for free its quarter chicken value meal to any customer wearing yellow from
head to toe that "clucks" to the restaurant cashier

oh dear me.

I don't own anything but yellow beads (I dislike yellow). Ya think they will get upset if that is all I wear? Never mind.

Chickens? Turkeys? Let cry fowl.
In such an atmosphere Hello Kitty armbands won’t create a disincentive for corruption (what happened to those Hello Kitty pics I sent?) Sunday’s paper mentioned the inability to have noise ordinances enforced in the Grove. Police say it’s the job of Code Enforcement. Code Enforcement says it’s the police’s job. Residents complain about speakers placed outside and the lack of permitting. Code enforcement says speakers aren’t illegal. Question? Why not? In the Grove and elsewhere.
Noise is blared into empty parking lots, at sidewalks, not to mention around people in malls or dining outside. Except for shy teenagers, who are just as likely to be talking/shouting on their cells or text messaging, does anyone need this “can’t make a conversation” aid? Clucking is about all you could do.
Another blog mentions the lack of green space contributing to overall stress and anger. It isn’t only concrete, but piped in and out cacophony in public spaces that grates.
Let’s go after leaf blowers too. We need more than a Green party. We need a feng-sui movement. (The geomancers might be an aid at Turkey Point too).
