The Miami Circle is Jorge Perez's $26.7 million Doggy-Shit Park. By Geniusofdespair

The controversy  continues, the friggin dogs are still roaming on the Miami Circle proberty. I took these 2 photos on March 18th, I saw 4 dogs on the Miami Circle property. We forked over $26.7 million of our hard earned tax dollars to buy  friggin' Jorge Perez a dog park for his building, Icon Brickell.  They also use the Miami Circle property for trucks to turn around after making Icon Brickell deliveries. Why isn't there a fence around this property History Museum??

I want my money back!!! The History Museum and Jorge Perez, they both suck!

The vulgar slant your blog has taken recently is turning many people away. Those who use foul language are usually not taken seriously.

I have used the words shit and fuck since this blog started. If that offends you then the blogs I write are certainly not for you. We have more readers than ever so I don't think you are accurate in your assessment. I didn't even use fuck in this post because I have been trying to use friggin' instead. The Miami Herald uses no words that would offend you. Sorry.

Vulgar and negative lately? This has always been a vulgar negative blog. That is why I love it.

I did not know you were a dog hater. Your photos show people enjoying the park with their dogs. I think that's great! And why would you care whether a friendly dog is on a leash or not? A dog wants to run free just like a human.

As for the dog poop, most owners in a public park like that will pick up after their dogs because of peer pressure.

And what's the worst that could happen if the dogs poop and no one picks it up? Animals have been pooping there for thousands of years. Fortunately, dog poop is biodegradable and it will do no harm.

Get a grip. Now you're bitching about de minimus trivia.

The point is, this is a "historic" park that the taxpayers spent millions on. It is for viewing for educational purposes. It is to remember what Miami was and what went ahead of us. To make it a toilet for dogs is not what we, the taxpayers, had in mind when we stood up and stopped the destruction of this historic site by developers. We never said, "We want to save this area so our dogs can shit in it." We said "We want to save this area so we and our children and our children's children can see how rich in history Miami is." Go run your dogs in the park on the other side of the building. It doesn't have any historic relics and its on the waterfront. What's the problem?

I wouldn’t blame History Miami (the museum) for this situation. They did a great job designing the park and interpreting the significance of the site. Blame the idiots who are ignoring the dog ban and are too damn inconsiderate to pick up after their animals. They are too stupid to realize that they are ruining the park for themselves and for others, a pattern I’ve seen repeated in Miami time and time again.

As for the park on the other side of the Icon building, it contained a number of prehistoric burials and still holds the now empty mausoleum of the pioneering Brickell family.

What beautiful photos of families enjoying one of our parks with their dogs! This is exactly what I hoped would happen when we bought that property. Not sure what the complaints are about, but I guess there is a Scrooge in every crowd.

Sorry, my husband just told me that he thinks that someone is buried in the other park (Native remains or maybe Mary Brickell?). I guess the real point is when one is planning development, they need to include a place for the pets that isn't historical or offensive to others. Green space is important for many reasons. Whoever allowed all this building to take place without consideration for pets are really the ones at fault.

Guess the dog owners on Brickell using the Miami Circle as a doggie toilet are some of your new readers, EOM. Seems they're young assholes, too, which seems appropriate for Miami, for who will replace the old assholes in power if we don't have any young ones coming along behind them.

Anonymous above: Beautiful photos? Are you kidding, they stink. GoD doesn't know how to take a good photo.

Don't insult the blogger...

I said WE.

Than I described just SOME of the things I did.

I am not taking credit for the property's aquisition. I was part of a coalition of groups that can take credit such as Dade Heritage Trust and the Urban Environment League. Greg Bush of UEL was instrumental is saving this property.

Blame Jorge Perez that you have no place to walk your dog. I have dogs but this is NOT the place to walk them. It offends a lot of people to see this become a dog park. If you don't get it you are a self absorbed person. You will never get anything outside yourself or your own needs.

Go focus on lunch or dinner, that is all you are worth to anyone, the next meal, where you are going to leave your paltry tip. Even the wait staff doesn't like you.

This archeological site should be a national site, part of the national park system. History Miami should not be the steward- in fact they have pimped out this land for wedding parties.

This is an ancient burial site and a public park with historic significance. Who would want their grave covered in dog crap? These self-entitled brats at the Icon need a slap upside their heads.

Are you saying dogs don't poop in Tropical Park?

Why so anti-dog? Are you a cat person?

If this is an issue, then argue for an enclosure to the actual circle, instead of making it look like a kitty litter box.

Leave the dogs and Jorgie alone.

While you want to talk about business "stuff" I would like to comment that I know Jorge Perez personally, have known him for 40 years, he is a wonderful friend, Dad and husband. All the rest does not really matter...
