No, these three are not criminals. Worse, they are brothers. Worse than that, they all have held/hold office. These are the Diaz de la Portilla's, Miguel, Alex and what's his face -- Renier. And, Renier also happens to be the subject of this post.
Can someone run against Renier for School Board in District 5? First he is all for virtual schools, the new money making enterprise and he did that creepy school board mailing to Republicans for his brother. Read my two posts detailing his deeds. I know your next question and the answer is 'NO'. The sex-party charter school is not in his district, but he does like those charter schools.
Most of all we need to replace him because he looks mean. Even when he smiles he looks surly. It would scare the students if they ever ran into him but fat chance of that if he gets his way with virtual schools.
Who is giving to his campaign: Lobbyist Ron Book and family, a couple of Corporations with Anibal J. Duarte-Viera as Manager, Lobbyists John Cerra, Robert Cerra and Ana Carbonell, Demetrio Perez (former School Board member), Florida School Services (Thomas Cerra) and Octavio Visiedo among others. Berkshire LLC a school on SW 8th Street gave to his campaign, might be a real estate school. Berkshire LLC is defunct in Florida.
Kidding aside, you won't win (although in comments they say his vulnerable) because his brother Alex is a campaign expert/animal, most recently he worked on the Gimenez campaign, but winning is not the reason to run against Renier. I want you to run so issues can be raised and he will be forced to go on record.

He sure looks like a criminal!
Alex has found his new career after having been term limited, running campaigns. Steve Marin and Al Lorenzo you have competition.
Are you sure Alex, Miguel and Renier are not crooks? I am not.
Miguel makes his living lobbying the same local governments that he is supposed to be representing in Tallahassee. How's that for a conflict of interest?
These 3 look like wise guys right out of a Gangsta' movie.
What is it that drives certain people to continue to seek political office here in Miami Dade. They just seem to run, get elected serve then then run for some other political office. Do they think for one moment that they are so special that they have to seek political office because nobody else can match their ability to represent us stupid tax payers. Why is it that only ass holes seem to run for office now a days and chase away a poor guy who would do a better job but lacks the funds necessary to run for office.
State Senator Miguel is a full-time lobbyist, which means his advocacy is for sale.
Is it a stretch to think his vote is also for sale?

Them boys sure like purple. Do they think they are royalty?
Don't give Alex too much credit. Wasn't he running Alvarez's Vote No to Recall campaign? That was a disaster. And wasn't he also behind those Gimenez campaign robo-calls that almost cost him the election? I for one and not impressed.
Didn't Renier get voted out of his school board post once before? He is not popular and definitely beatable.
He was a Fl. House Rep., elected in 2000, he served two terms in District 115.
In fact, Renier has previously lost two re-election races. He first served one term as a school board member in Dist 8 from 1996-98. He was ousted by Marta Perez.
He then served one term as the state rep from Dist 115 from 2000-02. He lost that seat to JC Planas.
Renier is VERY vulnerable to a serious challenger.
Does he even live in the area? I know he was scrambling for an address when he qualified to run the first time.
I am embarassed to be Cuban sometimes. Did history not teach our people anything?
It smells like . . . hmmmm . . . not too sure.
Well, I think as of today you better scratch this story. The plot just thickened. Alex Diaz de La Portilla spent a week with his "Band of Brothers" and cronies And guess what? He just filed for State Senate 35. New Seat-I told you we were in trouble. Norman sure likes these brothers. Kinda makes you wonder.
