Florida House District Elections. By Geniusofdespair

Harold James Ford
District 118
Harold James Ford is running for District 118 in the Florida House. Also running in this district are Kionne McGhee and Carmen Morris.  All 3 are Democrats.

Harold reached out to Eye on Miami, so he gets his photo published. He wanted to talk but neither of us have had time to link up. He has an MBA according to the info he sent us.

I just looked up the demographics for District 118. This can't be right. Why would Harold run in a predominately Hispanic District? These State records are all screwed up still.  I suppose he will change District numbers as he could never win in a district 79.7% Hispanic. Or maybe the demographics are wrong for the districts.

Just spoke to Ford. As I suspected he is moving his campaign to District 117. He still doesn't have great demographics 37% Black and Hispanic 52%.

Map of District 117

Demographics of District 118 is above. Apparently Harold Ford is trying to switch to 117 (Bullard's District)
District 117 is where Harold James Ford will be running. Homestead & Florida City.

I noticed that Ana Rivas Logan in District 114 has no challenger. Why not? She stinks.

John Patrick Julien
It says on the State House website that Bruno Barrerio's wife Zoraida is running in House District 107. I would never vote for her and besides that, she doesn't even live within the boundaries of this District. She actually lives in District 112 (70.8% Hispanic). I looked up her address. John Patrick Julien, pictured left is running in 107. This District is 56.8% Black.

I love the interests Julien lists on the Florida House Website: "Reading and Sleeping", a guy cut from my cloth.

With all the Districts so screwed up, it is a wonder that any of these candidates can run a campaign.  In District 112 there are currently 5 candidates and with Zoraida that makes it 6.  Vote for Jose Javier Rodriguez in 112, it is a no brainer in that District.

His interest is sleeping? Throw the bum out.

Those district 118 demographics look right. Of course, the less populated more democat-leaning southern half of that district gets deluded by the more populous repub leaning northern half of the district.

Once again, you fail to realize that people are filed in seats that DO NOT correspond to them, most are filed in what the CURRENT maps look like, not what the NEW maps look like. This will change soon, as the House maps have been approved by the Supreme Court. 118 is what the Dwight Bullard seat looks like now, but that number will change. Zoraida Barrero lives in the CURRENT 107, not the NEW 107, she lives in the NEW 112, the CURRENT 112 being in Doral.

Also, Ana Rivas Logan will have an opponent, in the NEW 116...Jose Felix Diaz, who represents the CURRENT 115. All of these numbers, districts, candidates will change.

I understand you do not follow state politics as much as local, but you are doing all of these candidates in the eyes of your readers...whether the candidate is an R or a D, or a black or a white, or hispanic or an anglo, because you are creating more confusion.

I am creating confusion? What are you nuts? I am calling the candidates and getting them to get in the right district. I understand fully what is going on. All these candidates are trying to run campaigns while the redistricting is going on. They need to run their campaigns and the House seats are relatively safe now, barring a court challenge.

Giving people a sense of what is going on is more helpful than waiting till it is too late to mount a campaign. I understand perfectly what is going on. Bruno's wife should have changed her seat by now like the other House candidates. They all should have changed by now.

The House Maps were already approved by the Court. What is this anonymous talking about? Is there a court case on them?

The House map were approved, unanimously, by the Florida Supreme Court on March 9, the same day they rejected the Senate map. Yes, there was a court case, based on a lawsuit filed shortly after the chambers passed their first maps during the first few weeks of session.

Also, if you need to call candidates and tell them to get in the right district, then they should not be running because their finger is anywhere but on the pulse. People file in the CURRENT number and eventually switch over before qualifying. This is merely a formality, as their mailpieces, fliers, and when they speak to voters, will show the NEW number.

Anyone who has to go to the Elections website to know who is running in what seat is clueless. Anyone who, on March 27, thought Ana Rivas Logan was going unopposed, is clueless.

Ana Rivas Logan was the best School Board member we ever had and she has been great at the state. She will mop the floor with Jose Felix Diaz just like she did to Millie Herrera which you supported.

Have you ever said anything positive about a conservative? Or do you only say nice things about liberals and trash conservatives?

Geniusofdespair said...

Well I am not conservative. What else can I say?

Geniusofdespair said...

Janet McAlliley was the best school board member we ever had.

You are nt a conservative? I would've never guessed? You don't write witha an accent, your pages look pretty white, and you always put up pics of republicans. You really had me fulled Genius.

As for redistricting I propose that we cancel the elections and hold a lights out, no holds barred, texas cage match, throw all the would be politicians in at once and only those left standing will be deemed worthy of a State House or State Seenate seat.

Beats standing in line just to punch holes in a piece of cardboard.

Dominguez in District 112 was the candidadte running on the teacher property tax reduction. He is a democrat according to his website.

Why should teachers get a property tax deduction and nobody else? What makes them so special that they should get this outrageous distinction. If they get one, they better be ready to tell me why I can't get one too.

Have you met the kids graduating from school? They cannot, spell, read, add, or even speak using proper grammar.

Tell me again why teachers should get a tax break.

What nonsense!!!!

I disagree with you. Tax breaks for teachers would be great. Maybe then the system can attract brighter students to become teachers. As it stands right now who wants to go to college to become a teacher for 30,000/ year. Then idots like you wonder why students dont learn. Bad system, bad teachers, =shitty learning environment. A vicious cycle....

I agree wit the tax break for the teachers. Big corporations and sports teams get tax breaks all the time, why not teachers! My girlfriend is a teacher and she cant even afford to buy a house. Go republicans1

There are many important jobs in our society.
Yes, teachers are important. And underpaid.
But the guy who replaces the bulbs in the traffic signal at the end of the street is actually more important to me. The underpaid pharmacy assistant who makes sure the label on my bottle is right is more improtant to me.

Once you start opening the door to property tax breaks for certain individuals based on their employment I can see a multitude of problems.

great now Braman wants to recruit candidates to run against the county commissioners. Looks like Luis garcia is going to abandon his bid for congress and run against bruno barreiro. thats a bad move!He should stay in the congressional race and let some fresh faces run against barreiro. Maybe Hancock,Dominguez.or Jose Javier would sufice? any thoughts?

Anonymous: Ana Rivas Logan no good! Did Zero in School Board. Hope someone unseats her, Please! She probably said herself that she was great in the School Board. The best now is Dr. Perez and Janet McAlilley was awesome also. Dr. Perez is there for the students and the teachers. That is a great Board member. Nothing Phoney about her.
