Mayor Gimenez Taps Jack Osterholt as Operations Chief. By Geniusofdespair

Jack Osterholt was the Executive Director of the South Florida Regional Planning Council. That is something I think is important. He is a planner. If we need anything around here in Miami-Dade County it is someone with a background in planning. He has a master's degree in City planning from Georgia Institute of Technology.

He was also Broward County Manager. To me that is secondary but I am sure that is what got him the job offer. The only picture I could find of him was this one with him standing next to stupid lobbyist Ron Book. Book is the short one.

Here is a bad thing Osterholt has done:

He worked for White Rock Quarries. He was a Consultant on the land development and redevelopment potential of company lands in Miami-Dade County.

(I hate anything to do with rock mining)

Here is a good thing Osterholt has done:

Worked for the Vizcayans as a consultant on the development and redevelopment of properties adjacent to Vizcaya to negate and minimize impacts on Vizcaya.

On another note, Look for the Mayor's budget today after 6 pm.

He was there years ago and they have no power anymore.

He is currently listed as the Executive Director of the South Florida Regional Planning Council.

Jean Monestime
Jose Riesco
Michael Blynn
Rebeca Sosa
Manuel Marono

It's great for EoM that Mayor Gimenez is using your blog to release his staff choices. It would be great if the backup information also appeared on the Mayor's web site, too.

For example, where is the contact information for the Mayor's executive staff? I tried to click on the "Request Meeting" tab, filled out the form, and after hitting submit, ended up at a broken link.

Chiefs of staff are important but knowing who is setting up the Mayor's calendar is actually more important to the public.

give them a call:

I called to make sure the number is working it is. I asked to be connected to the Appointment secretary:

Rita Lagaci
305 375-1880

HOW HARD IS IT -- took me a couple of minutes to get this info. If there is a computer glitch TELL THEM!

Jack O is a fine man - no nonsense, straight shooter, won't compromise. That's my experience with him - albeit I haven't seen him in a few years.
