Jose Mallea, Former campaign manager of Marco Rubio for U.S. Senate, also Former Chief of Staff on Mayor Manny Diaz is now Mayor Carlos Gimenez's Interim Chief of Staff...or so I was told.
He worked on David Rivera's campaign according to Paul Crespo. Ick. And, Rivera and Mallea both served on John McCain’s Hispanic Leadership Committee in 2008. Gimleteye wrote this Nov. 6, 2009:
A company called JM Global Consulting turns up with max contribution to Souto. Who knows JM Consulting, or, its principal Jose Mallea? He seems to be a fan of the George Bush Presidential Library and so forth. Former chief of staff to Mayor Manny Diaz, unless that is another Jose Mallea. According to a 2005 Miami Today report, "Mr. Mallea was a member of the State Department's Iraq task force assisting the economic restructuring of Iraq." Mr. Mallea also turned up in 2007 as co-chair of the Advisory Council for Hispanic USA, chaired by Jose Cancela, advocating property tax reform. It all seemed so much easier during the ether of the building boom.
And September 11th the interim will be gone...and Chip Iglesias will be in. Who doesn't like Chip? The Miami Herald reports:
"A top aide to Miami-Dade Mayor Carlos Gimenez is returning to County Hall. Late Tuesday, Gimenez announced that he has offered Key Biscayne Village Manager Genaro “Chip” Iglesias the position of deputy mayor and chief of staff.
Iglesias, 49, has accepted the job, which pays $225,000 a year. He informed Key Biscayne leaders of his resignation on Monday. His last day will be Sept. 11."
I have to say I am relieved. Too much baggage on the other guy. Chip I like.
