More on the Miami Herald Poll: Honesty Rocks! By Geniusofdespair

According to the Bendixen poll paid for by the Miami Herald/El Nuevo Herald and TV Channel 4, Hialeah Mayor Julio Robaina is the top choice for Mayor garnering 28% (three times more than any other candidate). These are the same people polled who think that honest and ethical government, by 64%, is the most important quality they are seeking in a mayor. Don't the people know that 'Hialeah Mayor' and 'honest and ethical' are oxymorons?

Hialeah Julio is being investigated by the IRS, and he lost his real estate license for a time because he was found guilty of "...dishonest dealing by trick, scheme or device, culpable negligence or breach of trust in any business transaction."

No one in their right mind should be supporting Joshua Larose, shame on those who chose him in the poll. Voters have to start reading the newspaper and they have to stop judging candidates by who is "Cuban Enough" or we will never get good government. Speaking of newspapers check out "Mayor Alvarez's 12 Apostles."

To be honest, and just my opinion, there is no one running at the time I will support for Mayor.

When Campbell looks like to the most decent, we're screwed.

I really want to support Giminez, but just can't due to his voting record. He's been pretty crappy with consituents as well.

As to Hialeah Julio - I literally threw up when I read about honesty and him in the same paragraph!

Another brilliant display of voter IQ in this community.

Gimenez is the most straight shooter of the bunch in my book. it freaks me out that Hialeah Julio is so far ahead.

Llorente all the way bc he's the outisder. No way I vote for Gimenez...don't need to see 10,000 people laid off and see this place go further down the pipes.

Llorente is NOT an outsider he was a State Rep. They are even worse than our county commission.

Gimenez's problem is that he will be viewed as a bureaucrat akin to Alvarez yes he talks the good talk but his office is not an example of miserliness.
The establishment hates Hialeah/Julio so that gives him a couple of points in my book, I'll wait and see how things develop before deciding who to vote for.

Last anon, Gimenez is only viewed that way by people that want to paint him that way. He has been the lone consistent voice on the Commission, or elsewhere, against the real bureaucrats at the County, including most noteably, Alvarez and the "esteemed" Manager Burgess. Campaigns are about educating the public, and that is what will happen.

Anon saying Llorente is the candidate because he is the outsider, you really have to consider the position of County Mayor. That person should have administrative experience. And I have no idea where you get this 10,000 people will be laid off nonesense. The thing we have with Gimenez, that we don't have with anyone else in the field is a proven record of administration. When he Managed the City of Miami, he left it in the best fiscal position in its history. Lowest tax rate in 50 years. $142 million in the reserve account (the County budget is about 10 times as big, and has no where near that amount in reserve). A double A Bond rating (after sitting in junk status). All that with hiring freezes, no lay-offs.

If you want to support Marcelo, that is fine, that is what democracy is about, but, don't go around throwing mud when the facts contradict your conclusion.

Llorente is being proped up by Xavier Suarez, his son Fancis, and whatever remnents are left over from Xavier's old machine. They are related in some capacity. Now the elder Suarez wants to run to backfill the District 7 seat (currently held by Gimenez). Remember, he lost to Gimenez in 2004.

Remember, no matter how they try and package Llorente (new, young, outsider), it's all B.S. This is old school Suarez trying to expand power beyond Francis' City Commission Seat.

I wonder if Rebeca Sosa would run?
I would certainly vote for her... we need "Quality"...and maybe it's time for a woman to take over.

Anonymous said...

Rebeca is nice enough, but she is not very smart.

come on.... you don't need Einstein for mayor. Mrs. Sosa has been a teacher, and much more.
I don't want some brainy person that can figure out a way to steal from the public. I want a well-rounded person, ..not perfect, but good enough.e

You come on. We are not looking for Einstein...we want someone with an IQ in the triple digits. Sosa is barely there.

I like Sosa a lot. Don't underestimate her; She is SMART and well-rounded. Anyone that begs to differ is either backing another possible candidate or doesn't know her.
