David Rivera back in the News Again. By Geniusofdespair

I have a lot to say about about crematoriums (see yesterday's post), but I will wait untill we get my mother-in-laws ashes back. Don't want them to be held hostage.

On a more depressing note, creepy U.S. Congressman David Rivera is in the news again. Thank you reporters, Scott Hiaasen, Patricia Mazzei and Marc Caputo.

The article goes into detail on Rivera's gal-pal Esther Nuhfer. Namely:

"Rep. Rivera’s fundraising consultant collected $817,000 in fees since 2006."

The article tries to unravel the lobbyist web, that I often try to do. It is hard to make a coherent linear article out of the lobbyist web but the Miami Herald reporters do a pretty good job. This is why you should buy the newspaper. You can't get articles like this from blogs. We don't have the resources to do this kind of research. After reading the article you have to think that this woman is only making the big bucks because of her ties to David Rivera.

Make sure you read this article!

I'm glad you're addressing this. A start up business making almost a million dollars, and no one knows what kind of work was actually done, is a "only in Miami (or maybe Chicago)" kind of story.

If I were investigating, I'd be looking at Esther's company financials, tax returns, most importanly expenses and cash withdrawals.

As to Rivera, he was a scum bag during his campaign and remains one. I'd add - ALLEGED - cheater as well. Those are my words, and I'll own them.

This is a huge scandal brewing, which has been hiding in plain site for YEARS! It's kind of too little too late, unless people actually end up in jail, or have to spend all their ill gotten gains on attorney's fee. That would make me a little less jealous as to the amount of money this Esther person received, in such a short period of time, and for what? hmmmmm

This story is also a reminder to those who give blankly to political party's or pac's - make sure you know who they're supporting/endorsing/paying. By giving these groups money, it's just adding to coffer's of people you probably wouldn't want to.

PS: I'm a registered Independent! I support good candidates (with my own research), not political party's or their platforms. The above and this story is the reason why!

And her relationship to Armando Guttierez is?

How low does that dress go? Those ruby red lips look like the guilty party that sucked all the money out of David Rivera's campaigns and it seems that all the money has been stuffed in her bossom.

Why can't all consultants look like this?

Do you think she is a liberal when she's wearing a dress that looks more conservative?

The over $800,000 in fees is just gross revenue, not profit. The question is where did she spend the money? And if she doesn't have the receipts or invoices to justify 80-90% in expenditures, that might lead some people to suspect she kicked back some to Rivera. Which is of course very illegal.
