It takes one paragraph to know Lynda Bell is wrong for County Commission District 8. By Geniusofdespair

Could it be any clearer on who to vote for in Miami-Dade County Commission District 8?

This was the first paragraph from an article in the October 17th issue of the Miami Herald:

"When tea party activists held a rally in Homestead last year, then-city mayor Lynda Bell took to the microphone to greet the crowd. It was, perhaps, little surprise that Bell joined in -- she describes herself as a conservative and formerly headed the anti-abortion group, Florida Right to Life."

The only issue Lynda has latched onto in attack of Eugene Flinn is the Palmetto Bay Village Hall, under construction. She even has a commercial where a guy is pumping gas saying "10 million dollars?" Yes $10 million dollars from soup to nuts, approved by the entire village council. Here is her 'new' city hall, an empty lot, so far it cost the City $6,000,000, and there is no shovel to the dirt.

In the Putney debate, she claimed to support term limits. This is a real flip flop for her. As Mayor and Councilwoman she many times espoused that the voters were the best term limits. Flinn's claim that she tried to double her term and avoid the Mayoral term limit is absolutely true. How many times do we have to be reminded that she will say or do whatever it takes, both in seeking office and to hold on to an office? Her philosophy is do as I tell you to do, not do as I do.

A city hall in a city of about 25,000 people doesn't seem to be a needless expense. The council didn't have a permanent place to meet. People can book the space too for their meetings.

Palmetto Bay's city hall is not an issue in real life

The city hall in Doral is having a groundbreaking - their city hall will cost $22,000,000.

Homestead already has a City Hall with Chambers, Palmetto Bay does not. $6 Million for a vacant lot to replace something versus $10 Million for a new facility for the Community - wow! To me, that's good financial planning and real value.

Term limits - well, I remember that vote well, there were two issues, increase term limits for the Mayor and increase term limits for the Council - this is when Bell was Mayor, the voters denied her the increase in term limits but increased it for the Council.

I'm still waiting for her to post those 350 new businesses "she created" when she was mayor on her website.

Let's see, what else, she sent out a mailer saying Eugene was a "politician", the buzz word of this campaing cycle. He was elected twice by Palmetto Bay, and her serving on the Council & a one term very bad Mayor of Homestead doesn't deem her a Politician.

Give me a break. People have the right to vote for whoever they want, but Lynda is certainly targeting the people who don't know better or do any type of research.

In her Putney interview, the spirit and nasty Vile one appeared. She must have channeled VNS. I couldn't watch her, she just can't own her own bad decisions.

The main problem with Bell for the moment is that she is a relentless campaigner and could very well pull off the upset of the year. At least Homestead will be spared her maniacal run at the current one term Mayor. She stunned the "establishment" when she beat Steve Losner and with her style, she could do the same to Flinn. Many of us on this blog see her as Looney Tunes; however, there are a lot of voters out there who believe her cause and believe her.

Bell supports the recall of Alvarez because of the 14% tax increase.

The millage for Homestead in 2007 was 5.1585; in 2008 it was 5.3410; in 2009 it was 6.2917

She raised the millage 22% when she was Mayor - yet cries about the differences in property values between the two city's. Well, she could have done something to improve Homestead and not over saturate with un necessary development.

Under Flinn, the Palmetto Bay Millage is 2.447 and has remained practically flat.

Palmetto Bay did something right to narrow their property value losses to only about 7% during the crash vs over 40% for Homestead!

Please Please Please!

People get your friends, family and neighbors out to vote for Eugene.

This Lynda lady is a mirror. She reflects whatever the person standing in front of her believes and it makes her seem reasonable.

She has taken up residence at the 97th/Kendall voting precinct and out at Coral Reef drive. She is kissing up to voters, telling people that she didn't raise taxes, that the Miami Herald article lied and that Palmetto Bay did raise taxes. I know because I heard her, I was working the polls for another candidate when she was there.

She has put up the horrible car sized signs all over the place and put one on the Coral Reef Golf Course side of the road, which in turn resulted in the county parks department taking all the candidates signs and trashing them.(including her opponents and my candidate's) - they would not allow us to have them back :(

Yes, and every time a sign of hers comes down, she tweets out that Flinn vandalized it -- as if he's driving to Homestead to rip down signs. Guess she hasn't noticed that she has a lot of enemies. Plenty of Flinn signs have disappeared too. Her campaign style is pure Reese Witherspoon as Tracy Flick in "Election."

I would strongly suggest the Flinn campaign get an army out to Coral Reef!

Otherwise, they could easily lose this campaign if they don't counter the Bell BS at the polls!

Flinn has been a truthful gentleman throughout this ordeal while Bell has been a less than truthful, lunatic biyotch. She will win because she knows no courtesy,no bounds to what she will say and will take advantage of the Flinn
politeness.

I just got an email from a voter at Coral Reef, they said they were being attacked at the polls. Leave them alone people...The person complained about a loud cow bell. You do your candidates a disservice by not respecting voters boundaries.

That freakin cowbell has been in the hands of one of Lynda's eunich zealots since 2007.

Lynda was ringing one at the coral reef site on saturday... she was shouting lynda bell and ringing it....

People have asked her crew to stop and they don't.

If you want to help counter the madness, please volunteer for the Flinn campaign! But you have to hold your ears against the cowbell and hold your nose about some other stuff, like her lies about Flinn raising taxes. It is scary to think of Lynda being commissioner.

Personally, I think the Flinn people ought to provide the Bell people with more cowbells.

Bell is apparently telling voters that her city hall would have been paid for entirely by sale of a commerce park. Any thoughts on this?

Anonymous said...

I understood they sold a parcel of land for 17 million _ probably a fire sale. I have no idea if that is positively true _ but I wonder if that is the parcel now included in a law suit over the air base encroachment.

The park of commerce was sold for $17,000,000. The city hall would cost $25,000,000 to $30,000,000.

Secondly, the revenue from the park of commerce was never designated as a "special account".
In other words, the money as it stands right now, is not earmarked for a city hall.

I worked for Steve Batemans campaign and I was attacked twice by Lynda's daughter Jena and once by one of her poll workers.
A bit of advice for Flynn's poll workers, always work in pairs and do not be afraid to call the police. Bell's team is dirty!!!! They do not and will not follow the rules or obey the law.

Anonymous said...

She said that? That parcel of land is still sitting, no one has the cash to buy it. No offers on it and no bids.
So how was she going to accomplish that?
Lynda bell would have sold one of her grandchildren just to get the chance to put her name on a building here in Homestead.

I thought part of the part was sold and the city is involved in a lawsuit because the new owners claim that no told them about the air bases crash zones... well, I really think that one of the people suing sat on the south dade encroachment study a few years back, so how could they not know?

I got 3 comments with very specific accusations about Lynda Bell. Sorry could not print them as I have no way to verify what you wrote.

Genius what proof do you need??? I will get it for you if you will publish it.
