M-D Democrats invite $10K photo op with President Obama ... by gimleteye

An email solicitation just floated in from the Miami-Dade Democrats. While there is nothing special about an invitation to contribute $10,000 and have a photo taken with President Obama in Miami tomorrow... it feels, how should I say: alienating. I'm not inclined to spend money to have my photo taken with the president. I know Republicans have their own cheesy, paid photo op. Looks good on the office wall. Dems/Republicans: it's all the same money chase that the US Supreme Court believes is the best democracy can afford. Still, President Obama presents as a populist president, and so I would be less jaded if there were some other format where ordinary people who are as passionate about politics as rich people could have their photo taken with the president and not pay anything at all. Bob Graham had his "work days". How about a plan where visitors to the White House could be randomly selected to have their photos taken with the president. No fundraising. Just a plain old, stick around and say hello to the President of the United States?

Free photos with Bill Clinton last night at the Meek rally.

You had to be right up front and pushy though!

Bill Clinton has not been President for almost a decade. It would be surprising IF he still charged $$$ for a pic. I remember when the Clintons, properly or not, charged folks even to have teas or sleep over at the White House itself.

Look both parties, Republican and Democrat are controlled by corporate and elitist interests.

As long as you have people with egos the size of states, you will find plenty of folks - in BOTH political parties - willing to pay whatever it takes for an "exclusive" picture with POTUS.

A very wise woman told me once that in order to succeed in politics, you need 2 things - "ego and money" - Jeanne Kirkpatrick

Her words of wisdom rings true today as they did in 1994 when she uttered them to me.

I am sure there are and will be lots of opportunities for everyday people to take photos with the President. But now they need money for all these Senate races around the country and the stakes are very high. Control of the US Senate and future directions for the country are at stake.

Awe. You are upset that Obama didn't come and shake your hand for free?

You thought he was going to shake hands with you or the unwashed masses like he did in his campaign?

Obama will never shake your hand because you have no money.

Obama a populist? What planet are you on?

We tried to tell you before the election what this guy is, but you save the world types never learn or listen.

Keep it up and the whole country will be basket cases like Detroit or Chicago or Newark or Los Angeles or New Orleans or Philly or .....(insert city run by totally by liberal Dems).
