Miami Dade Planning Advisory Board Members. By Geniusofdespair

I just spent about an hour looking at the Miami Dade County website for past minutes and the membership of the Miami Dade Planning Advisory Board. I could not find the information. This Board meets this morning. I know the information is hidden away somewhere on their site.

Miami Dade County has the WORST "search" of any website I have ever seen. I use google search because of this deficit. I was on the Planning and Zoning page and still could not find what I was looking for: past minutes or members. I was going to list the membership for you today but I need your help to get the information. I give up, the County drives me crazy. Read Gimleteye's post yesterday.

G.O.D. is right: the county website is horrible. There is plenty of information, but it is in bits and pieces and very difficult to sort through. Try finding which commissioners are on which county commission committees; what is the committee oversight responsibility. Try finding who is on the planning advisory board or any other committees. Mostly, what the county website reflects is the chasm between the office of the mayor and the county commission. It reflects the politicization of county government and departments, instead of disclosing to the public, important information that would allow taxpayers to follow what is going on.

I went through the same frustrating process a couple of weeks ago. Try it for other boards. They are all MIA - missing in action, not the airport.

They are either trying to hide the members from the angry public or it is just another example of our dysfunctional county government in action

Check out this link and see if this gives you the information you're looking for:

http://www.miamidade.gov/planzone/contact.asp

Combine this with the organization structure:

and I think you have it.

The problem is BOARD MEMBERS not personnel.

You're right - the PAB info isn't on there. The agendas aren't either.

The county web was designed to deliver info driven mostly by service requests. People want to pay their water bill or find out how to adopt a cat. Stuff like that.

It was not designed to explain the various committees and boards.

They do a good job of puting regular committee and board stuff on the site and you can download nearly all the documentation. There is always room for improvement. The web was supposed to be designed so you didn't need to know what department was in charge in order to find the info, but it didn't exactly work out that way.

The web people are really good about responding to information deficiencies so send an email and see what happens.
