2013 Homestead Election: Mark Bell and Jeff Porter Compared. By Geniusofdespair

Who is REALLY running?
In the primary for Mayor Jeff Porter got 903 votes and Mark Bell got 814 votes. Mark Bell excelled in Early Voting, Porter beat Bell in Absentees. The total votes cast for Mayor in the primary were 2,428. Mark Bell will have collected at least $200,000 for this race with his ECO. If he get 1,000 votes in the General Election, that is $200 dollars a vote. As of 10/11/2013 Jeff Porter collected $31,455. If he gets 1,000 votes he will have spent $31 a vote. If money buys elections Bell will win for sure. His wife Lynda Bell is feverishly collecting money for him from all over the county. And, by the way, besides elections, money CAN buy you love.

In the 2011 general election 2,166 (10.97%) voted out of the 19,748 registered voters. I guess when you get that low of a percentage, you get a bad election. Homestead seems to always hover around that 10% turnout. In an aside, I looked at the addresses of some of the campaign workers for Bell: Coral Gables, South Miami, Kendall. They come a long way.

Here is a blast from the past: In Lynda Bell's first race for Mayor of Homestead in 2007 she won by 301 votes, 2,361 people voted. The Villages of Homestead precinct 907 took her over the top and Sacred Heart Precinct 918. In 2009 she lost to Bateman by 483 votes. Precinct 907 this time went for Bateman and so did 918. Lynda never recovered from that loss.

You all know I support Jeff Porter over Mark Bell. And you all know I voted NO on that stupid hospital bond -- even after getting about 10 flyers.

If Lynda Bell would go on a crash diet, I think she would be hot.

I was at the last Mayor debate in Homestead and the look that Mr. Porter had on his face the entire time of the debate was like he had been eating dill pickles or sour pickles. He was mean and angry at the world. Then Mr. Bell had this gentle kind look like a grandfather.
Mr. Porter I got a different feeling about you at the last debate. Mr. Bell if you were not married to Mrs. Bell you would be a winner. I can not vote for either one of these men. Let the chips fall where they may. This has never happen to me before.

Just received my 4,000th (OK, just feels like 4,000th) hate mail about Jeff Porter put out by the Bell candidate. Interesting feature today is the confusion over the name Tim Milton/Tim Melton. On the front it blasts Jeff for paying "thousands" to Tim Melton, and on the reverse side it trumpets Tim "Milton" works for Jeff Porter's campaign with cuttings from local publications outlining the misdeeds of Tim Milton. Come on Mr. Bell, a Milton by any name is still a Milton. . . not a Melton!

One of the campaign workers for Mark Bell is Darling Salgado. Darling Salgado is the registered agent and manager for DSM Solutions, a printing company often used in local campaigns, and associated with Castillo. As of a month ago (September 27th), DSM Solutions was dissolved for not filing it's annual report.

Why is a person who usually gets paid big bucks to print campaign flyers now a campaign worker?

That GOP ballot collector who resigned from the Bell Campaign should be arrested. I truly believe if you are a GOPer in this County, KFR will DO NOTHING when you break the law. I cannot believe with witnesses to tampering with ballots, absolutely not a peep. I'd be pissed off too if I was Porter having to sit next to one of the most unqualified candidates for Mayor Homestead has ever had, except for his wife Lynda, who hopefully will be a one termer on the BCC. At some point, Humpty Dumpty takes a fall and hopefully it will be the Bells moving in to their new home in Palmetto Bay next to their benefactor DuBois! Who say's public service - cough - doesn't pay.

Vote Porter if you're in Homestead. Report AB fraud to the feds because the elections department along with KFR will do nothing about any of it in order to support Bell. It's so obvious I need a barf bag.

I think during the whole campaign I got about 20 flyers for Bell. In addition to those, there were positive Bell flyers from Good Government Now in Coral Gables, and a number of poision pen flyers against Porter from People for Truth and Integrity in Aventura. It is too much for a little municipal election. Stephen Shelley waited very late to get his flyer out as I voted three weeks ago.

Jackson cut the size of their flyer and pushed a life-saving testimonial from Nat Moore along with his big photo. Again no information on how much they want to borrow, interest rate on the bonds, how much property taxes will go up to pay for it, or the length of the loans.

While 10% turnouts are awful, for those who do vote their voice is not only heard, it screams! I never allow the polls to open without voting. The only people who really count in this county are those who vote.

For Porter to have hired a seven time felon as his absentee and southwest vote gatherer is appalling. Tim Milton can't vote yet he can bring in hundreds of votes for Porter.
This is wrong.

Tim Melton has rehabilitated himself.

Guys really. This is crazy. Think about what Porter and his family is going through because of all that money. Daily hit pieces and negative robocalls and whatever else the Bells can throw at him. No wonder he looked frustrated sitting up there next to that slime. That is the very game Lynda has become so good at. She smiles on the Dias while her minion Wendy Lobos and hired gun JC Planas does the dirty work. The facts are the facts. Bell is bankrolled by Wayne Rosen and the other developer power brokers that NEED LYNDA's vote in the county. Rosen is part of a group that has a large parcel of land in extreme west Kendall and needs to move the UDB. No matter how nice Lynmark smiles and talks softly about anything and nothing of substance at the same time, he is absolutely controlled by Queen Bell. Lynda is using the Lynmark brand for revenge and vindication. She would throw her own daughter under a bus if she had to. I know you don't like Seijas but she was a staunch supporter of Lynda and helped get her elected on what may be the thinnest margin in the history of a BCC RACE. It was just a few months later that the Bellbus ran her over like she didn't exist. Who's next? The residents and businesses of Homestead. I know first hand that that the Bellbus made it very clear that anyone financially supporting Porter will not be favored and believe me that's for 4 more years. They talk about the shotgun houses and shiver like Jeff wrote a check himself. Facts are that those bungalows were a crack haven. With the exception of about four families and elderly residents, the rest were transient thugs. The desire had been for years to rid the community of that last bastion of blight and scum. The only way to develop the property and replace it with a housing product that would benefit the extreme low income families in the area is to use county state and federal housing funds. That said, if the developer was to just evict everyone to redevelop the property using those funds, they would have to also pay an extreme amount for relocation fees. In other words, the vagrant that was living in the 700 square foot building and refusing to pay rent would be entitled to $15k to $20k in cash to relocate. So you do the math. Is it better to pay the owner $400 per month as they become vacant to keep them off the market for the purpose of redevelopment and avoiding the relocation fees of say $15k for say 35 not even the full 39 units or a staggering $525,000 fee that would be passed along to those low to extremely low income families that would occupy the new project. Really Genious I'm surprised you haven't looked in to the real story of that project despite your hatred of Shiver. Remember that little problem that MD County HUD had a few years back. You know when the Feds came in and stopped everything, actually took over the county housing agency? The shotgun houses were becoming vacant and a developer was working with the county on a project for that site and the rug was not just pulled, it was ripped out from under the residents of Homestead and most unfortunate, those that so desperately need housing in that area. So at absolutely no fault of the Shiver group or CRA staff, it was either let tenants move back in and the efforts to save public money was for naut, or purchase the property for its intended redevelopment in the future when the County got their S@$t together and true affordable housing could be developed there. The issues or crisis that arouse from that was orchestrated by Steve Losner who had an absolute love/hate relationship with Shiver. He simply couldn't stand that shiver was better, smarter and more accepted by the community at large and he would never be Mayor of his hometown. History has proven that.

Continued..Now lets connect the dots. Wayne Rosen and his development hit team has already offered a whopping $1 per year for the property that Lynmark is using to beat Porter with for his well thought out and correct decision with the other members of council siding in the majority. So wait, Lynmark is primarily financed by Wayne Rosen in the ECO and the actual campaign account and he is working on plans now for a school or affordable housing project for that same site. Does anyone see the absolute hypocracy in this? But wait, it gets better. Remember that scathing CRA audit conducted by Miami-Dade Coundy's very own self proclaimed public protector Cathy Jackson? The same lady who worked for Shiver when he was County Manager? Oh and wait there's one more piece to this very factual puzzle missing and it's the infamous Steirheim bread elitist George Burgess. He and Shiver butted heads from the first day. Burgess had never even been out in the real world of business. He never had to build business or sweat payroll like the majority of us who paid his salary as tax payers. So he was more than eager when he had a chance to have his watch dog run Shiver down. But karma's a bitch and his shenanigans of pulling the wool over the taxpayers eyes got his boss and a truly effective Mayor Alvarez recalled by an unprecedented 88% but the prize the taxpayer got out of that was his abrupt resignation that very next day. Nowhere did you see that there was a developer ready to go and it was George's own inept little HUD that failed the system. When the rocket scientist Cathy Jackson opined that the appraiser didn't know what he was doing, she forgot to include her experience or background that would give her the right to make that call. I know many CPA's that would never venture into an area beyond their expertise unless they had their own agenda. In fact, the appraiser that completed the report used to negotiate the purchase price was an approved Miami-Dade County appraiser for years and has completed far more complex assignments for the county itself. So lets look at how the Bells toll. Lynmark's primary campaign platform against Porter is the slimy hit pieces that use extremely misleading and self guided interpretations of the CRA audit and the Shotgun houses. The very same land that Lynmark is bitching about which was and will continue to be aggressively sought after by Wayne Rosen and his development crew for $1 per year or some other extremely favorable behind closed doors deal you can bet. In fact, it was Headmaster Rosen and his Charter School buddies that also wanted the bowling alley, yes the same bowling alley that was already approved for sale by the council for $600k to Sergio Rok and his lobbyist the disgraced Rich Candia. By the way, Headmaster Rosen's suggested offering price for the bowling alley at that time, $1 per year...... So, make no bones about it. Lynmark is and will always be a wholly owned subsidiary of Wayne Rosen and the Republican development community. Remember, Rosen was the same wizard of Oz that orchestrated and financed the ouster of Bell when he couldn't get along with her but absolutely shit himself when the tea party wave rolled her on the BCC beach. So in my opinion, it seems that an affirmative vote for the expansion of the UDB these days is about $200k in soft and hard campaign money for a completely unprepared, unqualified plumber's helper to run our city.

Last one.... (And its just the tip of the Bellburg)
Oh, and on a final note of absolute Lynmark hypocrisy, their campaign actually accepted thousands of dollars from Camarillo Investments and its affiliates that Shiver is the Chief Operating Officer of. How ironic is that? The Bellbus uses the Shiver name to slander and mislead voters away from Porter to them but gladly takes their money? Rumor has it that Shiver has actually been in closed door discussions with Lynmark to be their next City Manager if they get elected. Politics, greed and power make strange bedfellows and remember, things aren't always what they seem. Dig a little deeper, look behind the blank smile of Lynmark and you will see the very dismal future of Homestead if Bell is elected. Sad, very sad and if the voters of Homestead can't see through this highly financed charade, they deserve the dictatorship that's in store.

Wayne Rosen will have a lot more problems then Bell if he tries to open up the UDB. He'll have an army of people who vote and are very well funded in West Kendall. Even if he aligns with Zapata; they'll be more lawsuits flying around then the County will know what to do with. And, of course, he'll need a super majority of the BCC to do it who like their jobs!

Shiver is playing around with whoever will give him money and/or a job! Local Homestead Council people who have not been here long enough will learn soon enough it's a really bad idea to even be friends with him on Facebook because there a still plenty of people in Homestead who are kind of stuck in their homes due to being under waters (thanks Rosen/Lennar/et al) for the built it, turned it in to a CDD and now the rest of our house values are sinking faster then climate change.

Shiver can jocky for City Manager but Gretsas has an extended contract. Bell can send another 1 million mailers because it's not going to make him a better candidate or remotely qualified. Lynda Bell can pretend to be as nice as pie right now, however, we all remember her and are gladly reminding people on our own to NOT support her or anyone/anything she supports like her Joe the Plumbers assistance, which is what M. Bell reminds me of!

In any event, to the 2,000 people who vote - Vote for Porter, make you life less miserable because if Bell wins it will be a pave it or annex it to the Everglades. And, of course, Rock mine it too!

If there's an upside to all of this she's clearly showing just how desperate she will be when a very viable candidate runs against her. Lynda Bell has brawn (castillo) but a better candidate has brains to beat her and will do so. We need to take District8 back next year after Bell loses Homestead again. If he somehow wins, I'd not only demand a recount, I'd be looking at the AB's and calling the Fed's to contact those voters because they'd have to be either stupid or paid to vote for him.

I will help look at district 8 abs next year. I heard that Dubois is running for lynda's seat BEFORE she is finished with it. He can play the same game she can.... Be nice and screw u.

Jeff Porter may have been only one vote but one vote here, another one there and pretty soon you have a majority. Look around Homestead, traffic congestion, the empty lot that used to be the shotgun houses, homes squeezed in everywhere with any number of density and set back variances, the loss of at least twenty million dollars as a result of that rock mining operation controlled by Redland Company. What do all of these have in common? The vote of Jeff Porter. His philosophy sucks but in this case, he is far less dangerous as Mayor than Lynda Bell operating through Mark Bell. Wednesday, November 6th, 2013 will truly be the beginning of the end the reign of terror of Lynda Bell. She asked people for a lot of money and what did they get ? In this case,it will be a big smack down.

What makes you think Shiver needs a job? He looks pretty effective to me. I think he gets along just fine. You may be confused with the baitster who was fired and arrested. LMAO!

Eyeonstead, you wrote this:

Are you two different people? Who are you?

Someone should have paid for Elaine Navarre's Attorney. Most of this Bell BS would be history written in a different way. She is a hero in my book. She took on Lynda, just needed support , but got none. Rest In Peace and Keep Smiling...

Poor Elaine giving Mark Bell's boss $80 thousand to start the plumbing bussiness Action Plumbing. Poor return on that investment. Fighting over the money, even got her arrested. Seems she felt Lynda her friend was involved. We'll it all worked out after all when Mark got his disability money. With Elaine dead I guess the only thing left to put to rest is a disposal of the house 1 block from the Bells. Wonder if Jay will recoup his loss, I think never!!!!!!
