Why are Republicans so afraid of people saving money? by Geniusofdespair

There is so much misinformation out there. Let me print some of my own.  Obama will pay your health insurance premium if you are a Democrat.

I knew Democrats were getting a free ride!

I reallllllllly don't want the federal government in my health care or business. Why should I show my income to get health care? They know what it is.

As much as I dislike insurance companies, the government should not be in the business of health care. In fact, they can step back out of many other areas of my life.

The idea that my personal finances and my health info is going to be put into a data base is distressing. There are medical issues that I am embarrassed to share with anyone and now if I do, the notes are going to be in a national database?

Because people who work and barely get by do not want to support the people who want to sit at home and fan their crotches all day?

To last anon -- I assume then that you have (or will) reject Medicare for yourself and your family (parents, grandparents). And do you really think whatever health issues you have are not somewhere in some database? How about if you have a pre-existing condition and have to change insurers? Get a grip -- this is making health care affordable to many who are simply without it.

2nd Anon - so you would prefer a corporation to be involved in your health care, deciding if they will or won't pay for a procedure that might save your life or your childs life or your momma's life..? this is what we have had and it aint working so well for many many many people, alot of who are now needlessly dead because of bean counters who were "in charge" of their health. As we have become a self-service nation, we all know we have to mostly be our own doctors then fight to get the care we decide is best for ourselves. Fight and put ourselves into ridiculous debt in order to continue living. It just ain't as cut and dried about "government involvement" in my healthcare. I mean really, after the revelations about the NSA, if some little jerk wants to access every tidbit of information about you, apparently they can, at will. So lets be real. Besides, you can keep whatever insurance you have today just the way it is and do not have to be involved in the ACA at all if you don't want to be.

So, reject Obamacare, get private insurance for you and your family. No one will force you to get national insurance if you buy your own! Stop complaining. Not everyone is able to get affordable insurance and they don't all stay home and "fan their croches". You sound like a first class tea party republican or maybe you are already on national insurance (medicare).

this chart simply says a family of 4 with a 50k income will receive a huge tax credit. assuming it is true, why are we creating big new tax breaks for so many people when we have a %17 trillion deficit?

I am a healthy 27 year old man. Please tell me why I am being forced to buy a health insurance policy that I don't need. I can't afford to subsidize older unhealthy people. This law punishes me. I don't have any extra money right now for health insurance so I guess I will be paying the tax. What bullshit.

That's a good sign, but I want to know the details. Will I be able to keep my own doctor or will I need to travel to some overcrowded clinic in Homestead?

Also, how much is the deductible? Knowing the cost of the health insurance premium is meaningless without knowing how much you will also need to pay before benefits kick in. Usually low premiums mean high deductibles and vice versa.

To the 27 year old healthy man, do you expect to always and forever be a 27 year old healthy man? Stay off of the highways - an auto accident might change things in an instant. Then "we" the healthy get to point at your damaged, disabled body and make snide remarks that you're just not worth my tax dollar.

He should be careful around the house too. Household accidents happen all the time as emergency rooms are filled with people who got hurt around their homes. In fact , he doesn't have to be careful, a lot of diseases are inherited. And then there are all kinds of viral diseases some of them are air borne, some involve touching something, some involve sex, and others involve food and water. And with Stand Your Ground, with one strange look at someone, he could be shot any day. And on a sad note, death is no respecter of age. People are leaving here all ages. Give yourself a fighting chance, get Obamacare.

did you read the 27 year old man's post? He cant afford it. i recommend that he forgo it and wait until he experiences a problem. because pre-existing conditions are no longer a barrier, he can join up when he gets sick.

obamacare is a ponzi scheme that uses the premiums of young people to subsidize older people. the obama administration has said that they need at least 2.7 million young Americans to sign up or rates will go up for older Americans. read more here: http://www.businessweek.com/articles/2013-09-26/obamacares-battle-to-sign-up-young-healthy-americans

Actually if the 27-year old decides to pay the tax and passes on signing up, he cannot then sign up if he gets sick. Once the open enrollment period ends, the 27-year old is SOL until the next open enrollment period. So don't think you can wait until you get sick to get insurance, it isn't working that way.

He can just go to the emergency room until the open enrollment period. He won't be turned away.

Everyone should have the experience of being in the Jackson emergency waiting area when you don't have health insurance. My husband was there once. He waited over 24 hours to see a doctor. He was not allowed to lay down on the seat next to him when he was tired. He was then led to a stretcher in the hallway and that was where he was met my 2 medical students. It was the most horrible experience ever. If that's how you think people that can't afford health insurance should be treated, then you really should try it out sometime. Really. Go to Jackson. Tell them you have a medical emergency and no health insurance. You really need to check it out! I'm sure you'll tell all your friends to try it. The best thing of all is when you get the bill which is not negotiated for you by an insurance company. I think it took us 3 years to pay it off!

I have no problem helping people who work but can't make ends meet. I will be using medicare since I have been contributing to it since I was 16 years old. If you get into a car accident, your health insurance WILL NOT cover you. Why go through all this obamacare crap, why not give everyone free healthcare, which is what the democracts keep saying when they run for office?
