Jean Monestime Campaign Financing Report. By Geniusofdespair

You might wonder how a candidate like County Commissioner Jean Monestime has amassed $107,125 in his campaign account so fast when the legal limit for donations is $500 per entity.

Well, many rich people own plenty of entities--or corporations! I look at addresses to unravel the link. If the address is the same I pretty much assume it is coming from the same person. Here, as you can see, Jean most probably got $14,000 from 3 donors. All the addresses matched just the corporate names changed. I can go through ANY campaign report and find examples of this multiple giving, skirting the $500 donation limit.

I am curious about the company in Hollywood giving him money. Do they do affordable housing in his district?

Raymond Gonzalez -- $5,000

Jeffrey Berkowitz -- $5,000

Many Different Corporations including Stuart I. Meyers Family Partnership, LTD., Jorge Lopez, etc.  -- $4,000

Yes the hollywood addresses are for a company that does affordable housing. Valencia Pointe is off 77ST NW 27 AVE, and is affordable private housing.

I am sure there can not possibly be a conflict of interest there.

.....and Jeff Berkowitz is just a con artist, sleezeball developer.....

This just seems so unfair. We can never overcome these kinds of numbers.

Pay 2 play.

How about little Francis Suarez? Who has contributed over $1 mil to him through his campaign account and a PAC?

I don't think it is Pay 2 Play, it is more like Pay to have access because they can still vote against their projects in spite of the fact that they gave them money.

At least he is one of the better people in politics. I would rather they gave to him instead of some sleze ball criminal running for office.

Better people in politics? He is the male version of Barbara Jordan.

Francis Suarez is being "advised" by "the usual suspects". Disgraced Mayor Manny Diaz endorsed Suarez and Diaz is still under investigation by the SEC for the Marlins fiasco and other scams.

Jean Monestime is the best Commissioner on the dais...hands down. He is sincere, diligent and thoughtful. Maybe if more of the saints in this town reached in their wallets and supported good public servants the candidates would not have to rely on the usual suspects to finance their campaigns.

The best Commissioner on the dais?? He barely opens his mouth, doesn't explain his votes, and seems to have no backbone. He needs to stop being so worried about just being nice to the other Commissioners.

Thanks for this info, Genius. Many of us appreciate your efforts.

Jean Monestime is a sweet guy but he could benefit from showing some backbone. Someone needs to vote against the corruption. Why can't that someone be Monestime?

To the post above: and who do you vote best Commissioner on the dais? Come on, don't take a pass. Tell me your favorite among this distinguished group and explain why.

Opa Locke is looking to cherry pick
a vital portion of the North Central
MAC study area. This kind of action
by surrounding cities shows
disrespect to black people in Miami. This is like destroying overtown. The PAB and Commissioners needs to stop Opa Locka and any other planning to destroy a community for selfish reasons. The City of Central Miami should be voted on by citizens in area.
