Aug. 14 - Miami Dade elections
Aug. 27-30 - Republican National Convention in Tampa, Florida
Sept. 4-6 - Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, North Carolina
Oct. 3 - Presidential debate at University of Denver in Denver
Oct. 11 - Vice presidential debate at Centre College in Danville, Kentucky
Oct. 16 - Presidential debate at Hofstra University in Hempstead, New York
Oct. 22 - Presidential debate at Lynn University in Boca Raton, Florida
Nov. 6 - Election Day
The Nation has a good link to the Jon Stewart "Daily Show" pieces on voter suppression in Florida.
The mainstream media should focus on the important dual role of voter suppression and manipulation of absentee ballots. As EOM has pointed out repeatedly, absentee ballots make the difference in Miami-Dade. Couple that with voter suppression, and you have deformed democracy. That's just wrong. Democracy has a right to life, too.

What voter suppression? Requiring people to bring an ID to vote? Purging dead people, felons, and illegal aliens from the voter rolls? If that's your idea of voter suppression, you are nuts.
You have to vote for Obama and the Ds. Why? As Andrew Sullivan puts it:
Are Republican's Unhinged?
Or, rather, it is living in an alternative reality. 63 percent of Republicans in a new poll believe that Saddam Hussein had WMDs when we invaded in 2003, despite even George W. Bush's acknowledgment that he didn't. 64 percent also believe that Barack Obama was born in a foreign country, even though we have the long-form birth certificate from Hawaii. This alternate reality is sustained by a 24 hour propaganda network, and hermetically sealed off from any external intervention.
We are reaching a democratic crisis of some sorts. One major political party refuses to accept empirical truths. It has become a hall of ideological mirrors.
bored.............state races down here are dominated by Republican candidates. We are all the good dems? The few we have are running against each other????And the rest dont have a chance...
...dominated by Repubs because Dems don't have a chance.
The odds looked slim in June of 2006, but by November, a Democratic wave swept the nation, also sweeping some unexpected Dems into the state house. This year, with redistricting and a huge Obama GOTV --- plus one of those unpredictable Dem waves here in the land of Rick Scott --- you could see Jose Javier beat ADLP, Dr. Jeff beat Bileca, and Hancock destroy Fresen. #heyakidcandream
To last anom: I checked the races and yes I agree with you. District 112 has our 2 best candidates running against each other in a primary(Rodriguez and Dominguez).I have heard both speak and was impressed by both. I havent met Hancock, but he will have his hands full with Fresen. Way too much cash.Dems dont have a shot because all these PACS keep endorsing the incumbents. Although I expect 112 race will be closer than most people expect. DeLaPortilla and Barreiro can be beaten.
The irony about showing ID to vote is that I think you need to show an ID to get into the debates and conventions. I do know you need ID to get into an Obama rally!
