I couldn't believe it. Baggage claim was only a few minutes walk from the gate where I arrived. Checked luggage arrived in less than fifteen minutes! Not fifty minutes, if ever. Is it possible that American Airlines is cleaning up its Miami act? It only took twenty years and a billion plus. My flight was a domestic one and arrived at the new concourse. The service was courteous if beleaguered. Still I will not fly American internationally when there are alternatives. For American's sake, I hope upgraded aircraft come soon. Keep cleaning, American Airlines!
PS. Just spent 45 minutes waiting for luggage on the same flight route, a day later, from Boston to Miami. Same gate. Same baggage claim carousel. I asked the service rep what happened. He just mumbled. Oh well. I take it all back.

I had a fifty minute wait on Monday night, my flight from JFK arrived at 11:15 pm and the luggage did not show up on the carousel until a few minutes after midnight. There was no other flight arriving so absolutely no excuse. And until we figure out how to complain and public ally shame the airlines, the baggage handlers and the airport itself, it won't change, ever!
What level of service are you willing to pay for?
Forget that we, the taxpayers, paid billions in corporate welfare to AA for the new concourse. That money never trickles down to the service providers.
Maybe luggage would get there faster if they outsourced the luggage transfer to China or India. Then everyone could afford to have their own luggage porter for the $10 per week wages.
After all, people should feel lucky to have a job, Even if it is a job with no health care benefits and pays less than $15 per hour.
Of course, I have no clue where such lucky people could afford to live in Dade County.
Salaries are down under the new Tea Party leadership. Expect that the lucky ramp rats who remain will have to supplement their earnings by helping themselves to any valuables that you were foolish enough to pack.
Police enforcement? No way, too expensive, they have been laid off and the few remaining can only focus on the real crimes. Don't worry though, you can probably buy back your valuables at the curb where the County will set up a third world style bazaar to raise money.
That sounds about right. Good Government, on the way.
