Florida's Most Hated Democrat Links Up With Miami's Most Hated Lawyer. By Geniusofdespair

Corrine Brown - trying to stop redistricting (voted in by the public last year in 2 amendments called Fair District's) - has Natacha Seijas's reviled lawyer, Stephen Cody, to defend her lawsuit. This is 'an empty suit' on two fronts. We fought too hard for redistricting to let Corrine's unholy alliance with Republicans unhinge it.

Howard Simon, executive director of the ACLU of Florida said about Corrine in the Herald Today:

“It’s really sad. She is just plain wrong,”

The Herald goes on to say:

Republicans now have veto-proof majorities in the Legislature and control 19 of 25 congressional seats. “Things are completely out of whack in Florida,” said U.S. Rep. Kathy Castor, D-Tampa. “We’re a 50-50 state. We swing national elections. The Fair Districts is needed, and I don’t think anyone should be trying to fight it.”

Supporters for Fair Districts maintain the language does protect Black Districts:

The Fair Districts measures state that no district shall be drawn “with the intent to favor or disfavor a political party or an incumbent.” Lawmakers would have to draw compact and contiguous districts, preferably following the boundaries of cities and counties. And that districts shall not deny minorities the ability to “elect representatives of their choice.”

Just wait to see who funds Brown's "retirement plan".

The same people who did Meeks.

Howard Simon is the empty suit.

Stephen Cody is far from the most hated lawyer. He is the most pathetic lawyer. Professionally speaking, he is a shadow of his former self. It is hard to watch the decline as he sinks lower. He does not even look presentable anymore.

He is like a old sports figure who was past his prime long ago but no one had the heart to give them proper advice to retire.

Step aside Cody, its time for the current generation to step up and fix the many legal messes you helped to create. Hopefully your spouse and children will provide some comfort to you in your current sad state of affairs.

Let's see what happens after July 29 when Judge Ungaro hears the case.

BTW -- Didn't Cody represent Vanessa Brito as well as Seijas and Brown? That puts her in interesting company. But then "politics makes strange bedfellows." (Charles Dudley Warner (American Editor and Author, 1829-1900))

Why doesn't Stephen Cody wear a tie anymore? They don't make ties long enough to lap around that next and make it down to his belt, that is if you can find his belt.

Genius: You must have a secret crush on Cody. You're always writing about him. Your old crush was Miguel De Grandy. Cody's just a lawyer representing a client. You elevate him by making him out to be the most hated. (More hated than Jack Thompson?).

Give it a rest or get a room.

Genius doesn't have a crush on Stephen Cody, far from it. She is fascinated that anyone actually hires this shell of a former attorney. It is like running into the most gruesome person (well, in this case, Stephen Cody) and trying not to stare. You try not to, but you just catch yourself staring.

Get a room? Yuck. I can't decide the worse mental picture, picturing your own parents "doing it" or Stephen Cody "doing it."

Ouch, now I have to go purge.

I think there are some folks who need to grow up posting in the comments.

Cody is just another person who makes a living servicing the dark side. I don't even know how the evil ones find him. Is there some sort of phone directory for Dark Side Services?

Can someone provide the basis for the argument that the Republicans are waging on fair districting? Also, what is the relationship to trying to push primary sooner in 2012. Is this a last grab at power or what? I am too tired to research this. Please, one of you smart guys...what is the deal?

I've read the lawsuit. The argument is that the US Constitution gives the power to set the "time, place, and manner" for setting congressional elections directly to the state legislatures. Florida's attempt to restrict that power violates that constitutional delegation of authority. It's similar to what happened when states tried to impose Congressional term limits. The Supreme Court struck it down.

A crush on Cody? Just like my crush on Natacha? When I focus on someone, I have a crush? I suppose I am in love with Barney Bishop and Corrine Brown then. Dumb.

There are 27 congressional seats, and only 3 of them are Black seats. Getting rid of these three seats won't help Democrats. Spreading them around in all these districts won't help as many won't show up at the polls after having lost Black representation. At least you have three sure democratic votes from Florida. The effort now needs to be focused on getting people in the other 24 districts to vote democratic.
