Today Carlos Gimenez got a glowing endorsement from the Miami Herald. He is climbing in the polls, it is a good day for him. The Herald said:
Mr. Gimenez has often been a lonely voice for reform on the County Commission. He sought eight-year term limits for commissioners and to simplify the process for citizen initiatives, for example. His fiscally conservative views also got short shrift from colleagues. Mr. Gimenez voted against all the union contracts, arguing that to guarantee future raises in financially dicey times was irresponsible, a realistic stance for a former firefighter and union member who rose to be Miami fire chief.
Mr. Gimenez says that when the contracts are renegotiated every issue with a fiscal impact on the county should be on the table and subject to renegotiation on a yearly basis — a sound approach in such a rocky economic climate.
Here is a video I took of him on Thursday in the dark.

Great content! Hey, you could do this for a living! PS. Get a better lighting director.
Why not? can we forget the Herald endorsed Cancela?
I think the herald really played games with how close election is for Gimenez. After reading again I Realized 40 percent early votes for rabaina. Hope he does good job!!!
Watched the entire screening by the Miami Herald. It was interesting to see how the editorial board talks to the candidates and how civilized the candidates all were.
Saddest thing is that Hialeah Julio turned down the opportunity to defend his record--both as mayor and as a man in business.
congrats Comm. Carlos Giminez.
I am REALLY tired of the robocalls from the Gimenez camp. Although I will probably wind up voting for him (i.e. against Robaina) it is hard to imagine that these calls result in votes.
I think we should put this to music. McCarthur Park comes to mind.
Just joking...l am voting for him.
