This is who was working against us folks, giving to Natacha Seijas' PAC in the last cycle. Remember them, because whomever you vote for in the Mayor's race shouldn't have these people on their campaign report:

Some of this is very interesting - from a local politcal stand point.

Mayol & Goldstein et al supported Bell

Tom David & the Builders of So FLA supported Flinn

The Dade County PBA appears to be on a massive campaign for funds itself, so I've taken it upon myself to tell everyone as long as the PBA funds and endorses candidates, don't give them a dime - and that's a shame for the officers and their family's who are supposed to received the support - shame on the PBA!

Kasdin is just a sorry excuse for a political panderer (my opinion) and I remember him when he used to be decent way back in the Miami Beach days. Boy, has he changed, and not for the good of the people.

The rest are usual suspects.......

The PBA is a force for bad. Period. Kasdin, agree. The rest: just typical follow the money.

56 - 62 are all VNB (bell/sejais) supporters... In fact, Seijas would be voting on one of the UDB projects this week that Alger so loves.

Alice Pena is 8.5 mile area, farm bureau pal and the leader of the anti-DERM contingent that beat up on Carlos Espinosa with VNB (bell's) blessing at that DERM meeting several weeks ago.

I think it is swell that all those non-district 13 residents care enough about the district to give some money to Seijas. How thoughtful.

The South Dade group; Epling, Community bank; Losner, 1st National Bank of S FL; Alger, RICH farmer; Pena, Farm Bureau. What a bunch of losers.

"REMEMBER THEM"? What, are you and your hundred readers going to put Akerman Senterfitt or Sergio Pino out of business? You'd have better luck pulling a handful of pixie dust out of your back pocket, believing real hard, and flying around the Wachovia Tower! Someone's still feeling a political hangover from the recall celebration!

Anonymous said...

Ha! Gimme a break = bitter failed attorney Cody perhaps?

Who cares these people contribute to everyone and no one should base their vote on whether they give to any Mayoral candidate.

Anonymous said...

At least there aren't tons of individual FP&L employees - like there were in the first published report. FP&L must be channeling money through a lobbyist if they're continuing to contribute to the PAC.

Geniusofdespair said...

Remember our blog is read by lobbyists and that briefcase for hire cody. I will not vote for anyone that has these entities on their campaign report. I don't care if they give to everyone, I am fed up. Hundred readers...you give us too much credit, we only have 6 or 7.

Unknown said...

Point well made, 100 Readers. As I wrote before, the old manatee hater is worth driftwood to the lobbyists now. It's all about staying in the game, on a field that is still tilted heavily against the public interest. There's no time to lose, betting on the next horse.

Please Genius… how come you supported Flinn. He received the lion share of those monies… not to mention all the Unions you so easily dismiss now. I respect your opinions and the fact we can differ… but this is borderline hypocrisy. Hat off to you Genius for posting dissenting views. BTW the reason I bring up Flinn is because Lynda Bell’s name is in almost every other posting on your blog.

Just some highlights. It would take up to much space. You can visit Flinn’s donation list at:
http://www.voterfocus.com/ws/mdccand/candidate_pr.php?op=rp_all&e=14&c=miamidade&ca=756&cname=Eugene+Flinn&coffice=County+Commission+08&rellevel=4

By the way this does not include Flinn’ s PAC that raised hundreds of thousands of dollars too.

I was just trying to make sense of your posting. I interpreted your posting to say that any candidate with those donations should not be voted for. I guess I misread your comment. Don’t appreciate the vulgarities though. Grow up!

Geniusofdespair said...

Read the Miami Herald. We curse here.

Jose said...

In a perfect world these nasty donations would and should rule out a candidate. We are in a place where money gets us the worst possible candidates, Rick Scott is the best example. Why can't we stick to our beliefs? Because we wouldn't have any candidates at all

Geniusofdespair said...

Thanks Jose. No choice- it sucks. We have to live with crappy financed candidates or guaranteed losers. Do we take the high road or not?

proof that callous folk have money to burn while dear swamp is on fire. to follow the rotten stinking money makes for nausea.

If you can't be a good example -
- then you will just have to be a horrible warning

:)

I like this saying... unfortunately, Miami dade residents can not understand horrible warnings...

Thanks for doing the leg work. I guess 'gimme a break' would rather everyone sit around and do nothing about it. F that guy.

Anonymous said...

While I appreciate your analysis and reporting, I think it unrealistic to say you will vote for no one who takes money from these entities including PACS and lobbyists. Even Katy Sorenson had support by most of the donors on Natacha's list. The unions were being loyal one last time to Natacha Seijas. She has been loyal to them.

And while Natacha was not a favorite of EOM readers, she did pass some good initiatives for seniors, for expectant mothers and for her district. Natacha was awful on environmental issues, pro-development and generally unfriendly to people she disagreed with. Did she deserve to be ousted? 77% of the voters who voted said so.

The next task: elect a good commissioner from the district. The power brokers want Steve Bovo to be the next commissioner and he comes with experience on the city council and in the state house. They do train their candidates well in this district.

Geniusofdespair said...

Okay readers, you want to let bad contributions slide by. I held my nose big-time on Flinn campaign report -- Miguel Diaz De La Portilla -- ugh.

I just have so much trouble ignoring the contributions and now we have the PAC's to contend with (Llorente has one and so does Gimenez). I hate these campaign war chests.

Robaina has one too. It's named something in Spanish like "La Verdad de something something...". He used it to raise $300,000 to fight against Term Limits in Hialeah 2 years ago. THAT'S RIGHT... AGAINST TERM LIMITS JUST 2 YEARS AGO!

Geniusofdespair said...

that pac was opposing slot machines...

Anonymous said...

HIALEAH: Hialeah voters preserve term limits - VOTERS SHOT DOWN THE POSSIBILITY OF ENDING TERM LIMITS FOR THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL, AFTER REJECTING CHANGES TO THE CITY CHARTER DURING TUESDAY'S ELECTION
Miami Herald, The (FL) - Sunday, August 31, 2008

... The community activists were up against the financially oiled machine of Truth for Our Residents -- a political action committee headed by former city councilman Julio Ponce and with ties to Hialeah Mayor Julio Robaina .

Though the mayor supported the group in January, when it waged an unsuccessful battle against the Miami-Dade slots referendum approved countywide by voters, he said his involvement in this election was scaled back.

Anonymous said...

also from the same article:

note his quote (seems like he's doing a 180, huh?)

"I didn't do any ads, any commercials, any letters," Robaina said in a phone interview Thursday. "This was completely up to the voters to decide. Philosophically yes, I think term limits lead to bad policy and I've always said that. In a government like ours where the mayor is the city manager, when he acquires additional knowledge you want to keep that investment."

Geniusofdespair said...

I looked at that PAC it says they were opposing Question 3 - slot machines. Was that just a cover? Julio Ponce was the President of the PAC.

Salomon & Mary Terner gave 25,000 to this PAC 12/3/2010.
