We almost made it to Number ONE! Maybe next year. By Geniusofdespair

Michael Putney said yesterday in the Miami Herald
, "Whew, what a relief. When it comes to miserable places to live, Miami is not No. 1. Nope, we're No. 2." That is in Forbes Magazine's ranking of Miserable Cities. They looked at 200 large cities. The minimum population to be eligible is 249,000. They ranked on 10 factors. Miami is only behind Stockton, California which is the worst. Can you believe that Flint and Detroit Michigan ranked as BETTER cities? Putney said it was "Clearly, a race to the bottom between some dismal, hurtin’ places."

One of Forbes' reasons given for our ranking:

"Miami's corruption is off the charts with 404 government officials convicted of crimes this decade in South Florida."

Forbes said about Miami:

"The good weather and lack of a state income tax are the only things that kept Miami out of the top spot. In addition to housing problems (prices are down 50% over three years), corruption is off the charts, with 404 government officials convicted of crimes this decade in South Florida. Factor in violent crime rates among the worst in the country and long commutes, and it's easy to understand why Miami has steadily moved up our list, from No. 9 in 2009 to No. 6 last year to the runner-up spot this year."

Should be a heck of a lot more than 404 but thanks to the do nothing Ethics Commission and SAO, we got what we got .

Ethics doesn't make arrests. State Attorney's office does. Can you imagine what the REAL NUMBERS should be.

Sounds a little faulty if they aren't counting weather as a big factor. Think about all the snow up north right now!

"A few we factor in are not as critical, but still elevate people's blood pressure, like the weather, commute times and how the local sports team is doing."

Take all these rankings with a grain of salt. Forbes just published the 10 happiest cities to work in America. Miami is #4.
Please decide, are we happy or are we miserable?

You are all avoiding the elephant in the room:

"Miami's corruption is off the charts with 404 government officials convicted of crimes this decade in South Florida."

Err ,,, the article should read 404 in SOUTH FLORIDA, Miami could not have mustered all those alone.

Can someone please list the top 10 corruption cases in Miami of governmental officials that actualy led to a conviction with jail time served and not just a slap on the wrist or probation.

All I have to say is that K.R. - SAO need to stop playing favoritism & politics with the serious cases, and take notes from Broward County.

"RECALL STATE ATTORNEY K.R."
