It's the good old buddies, ALL OVER AGAIN! Example: Jorge Lopez, best childhood buddy and business associate of Alex Penelas, and Genius, the interesting ones are all of those "individual unknowns" who donated assorted amounts of money. At least, with businesses, you know where the money came from. In this case, all these "generous souls that came from nowhere," they represent what I've been saying all along: Big Anonymous donor goes to people they know -- or their family knows, or these are menial employees -- and he exchanges HIS CASH for checks made to the VILE ELEPHANT PAC. That's how it's done. And one of the best known local VILE developments has even exchanged tiles to land, apartments, etc., for cash. Yeah! I imagine you'll say, "oh, c'mon," BUT IT'S TRUE. Wake up, this is Miami, the cesspool city! And, of course, isn't this bank account in Sergito's bank?

It's terribly confusing. We do not have countywide commissioners yet anyone from anywhere ( even the planet Vile ) can donate money to a district candidate. If the candidate can only be voted for or against by the voters living in that district, the new rule ( Bill Maher where are you ) is - you can only accept money from registered voters in your district. Period. Someone tell me why I'm wrong?

This is very interesting. You assume they have financial interests in the County, and she will make sure they get their money. With the Unions, the financial relationships are clear. With the others, it would be good if someone could do the research with the County so we could see the dollar amounts of contracts, agreements, and policy decisions with financial implications, matched with each giver. Then everything would be transparent and we could clearly see the money trail.

Maybe just as they are required to provide information such as their name, amounts given and other information, they should be required to disclose up-front, any financial dealings they have or intend to have with the Commission. Failure to disclose could subject them to criminal penalties.

Let's face it, PAC's are the poison pill that makes campaign finance reform meaningless. We need to address PACs in the interest of Sunshine.

Totally agree last comment poster, the politicians are relying on PAC's more and more. There are many in the Miami Dade County races now...

Is there any analysis over what each donor has to gain from their contribution?

Anonymous said...

The analysis you imagine would be helpful, cannot identify who is bundling checks, and what their goal is. Then also you don't know who is giving money on behalf of other people; it is technically illegal to front for someone else but it happens all the time. Just as Sergito.

I think that is called stacking, but I don't think that applies to PACs, does it. I mean, if you get gifts of money, you have to report that to the IRS, but I think the stacking thing only applies to direct campaign contributions...but I could be wrong about that.

We ought to be left wondering how many of these people actually live in District 13 or give a damn about any of its citizens? How many own a business there? How many invest in dining or shopping there? Get outta here.

Now we also have the PBA as a people's enemy. The men and women risking their lives to protect us have a idiot running their union. Why the hell would they even want to support Seijas? Many in the police force are probably embarassed by this buffoon.
We can only guess: Special interest and corruption in the works!

The justice system ought to be investigating Seijas and her supporters and not the people who have only chosen to exercise their civil and constitutional rights.
