Addressing the Future Slug Fest. By Geniusofdespair

Judging by the reaction to anything I post about County Commissioner Carlos Gimenez, I can see that when we get into the Miami Dade Mayor election, some of you will be looking to wage a major battle against Gimenez in comments. It is not going to happen. All you Martinez admirers will get no voice on this blog. Bait me all you want, but out of the crop so far threatening to run, Carlos is the best. And yes his son is a lobbyist and a lawyer who is involved with the LBA.

By the way, calling me "innocent," as one of you did in yesterday's comments, even made me laugh.

I'm glad I gave you a big laugh; laughter is good for the spirit, digestion and everything else! My comment was not deprecating, as you seem to think. All the contrary! I happen to think thers'a an innate decency in the innocent, so forgive me if I offended you. And let me tell you, just so you won't make silly mistakes, that I think that Joe Martinez is one of the most repulsive characters in our political scene. I would rather be dead than support "anything like that"! Ugh! On the other hand, for the benefit of this community and the million jackasses who live here, I hope we can get a better candidate than Gimenez, and no, I'm not in the business of political consultancy. In fact, I am in the process of writing a book, and it has nothing to do with politics! Your faith in Gimenez tells me a lot about you.

I've watched Gimenez vote on some issues that I really thought he made bad decisions. Martinez is about as crooked as they make them. If it was between just the two, I'd hold my nose and vote for Gimenez. I'd like to see Martinez in a jail cell along with Pepe le Pew and a few others. If there was a decent third candidate, I'd really have to take a good look before supporting them over Gimenez. At least we know what we're going to get with him.

Well said, Genius, and I agree with you. This is about choices. Get on the right horse, previous poster, and reserve your right to change if a third party comes along. That is my suggestion. I happen to think Gimenez will do a good job.

While I intend to make no comments for or against Gimenez or Martinez, your post suggests that you will censor the comments of one candidates' supporters because you favor the other candidate.

I would like to think that you would not do that. Can you clarify?

I thought you were part of the free speech tribe, the one I like to think I belong to.

This is an editorial blog...if you want free speech I don't think my blog posts are set up for that. I don't give free time on my blog to people pushing people I don't like. You can disagree, but I am not for rah rah crap here. For instance, I wouldn't put up with people saying good things about Sarah Palin. I hate her, enough people give her free time, I am not giving her any of mine. I am part of the free speech tribe...doesn't have to be on my blog though.
