What is This? The District 8 Election Results Have Changed. By Geniusofdespair

There is now 355 votes between Lynda Bell and Eugene Flinn. she has 21,769 and he has 21,414. How did the numbers change since all the precincts were in? I think this race might need a closer look. It is 8pm and the numbers are again different. There is 362 between them. Bell has 21,787 and Flinn has 21,425.

There were approximately 6700 absentee ballots that had not been counted (county wide). These numbers now reflect those being counted. Obviously not all were in that district. I'm not sure what the number was for district 8.
Thus the change, i dont think its shennanigans. Those will start after Bell takes office.

Why you're at it, how about a look at the Governor count. I can't even believe that so many people would vote for such an obvious crook. Oh well, when they start arresting Cuban Grandmothers and penalizing teachers for low scores from handicapped and low-income children, maybe our Hispanic friends will stop voting against Castro and start voting for America!

I agree we need a recount. Or better yet a do over.

Since Flinn won the early voting and the election day vote wouldn't the absentee vote go the same way? Or do absentee voters normally vote differently than the main voters?

The precinct to look at is 847 in Leisure City surrounding Bell's church. There were about 1500 votes cast there, many more than at any other location. I think this is very unusual for this area and Bell bested Flinn there by about 400 votes. Very suspicious lopsided result.

I do think some election fraud is in play here especially in Leisure city. Every one of the poll workers were her church members. and I bet you some people who had not voted in 20 years had actually placed a vote for her that day and only her. If the county does not re-vote you will regret it! I'm willing to bet the re-vote will not come up with the same outcome!

A lot of the tallies changed late last night due to county wide absentee ballots of about 6,700 as the first anon said.
There are some 600 more absentee ballots to count from every corner of the county. The signatures are being checked against what is on file by the elections board.

If half, 300 were exclusive to District 8, which is a huge assumption and Flinn got all of those it is not enough.
The recount is automatic when one half of one percent is the difference. That number difference is around 216 and it stands at 355 now. It appears as if Flinn does not have any mathematical path to victory.

I hope there is a challenge filed. Something is very wrong in 847 - New Beginnings Church (Lynda's church). That area is normally very Democratic, look at 2008. Something smells in Dist. 8 and it was not a fair election. Especially the Lynda "I'm a republican" robo calls, then Leisure City going for Bell makes no sense and defies the demographics.

The sheer numbers there make it highly suspect. On the county elections site you can get the detailed demographics on that precinct. The answer is either voter fraud OR one hell of an effort to get the poor hispanic vote that is parked in her church and the surrounding areas. The obvious is to look at the absentees. Maybe her rich uncle paid the freight for all those votes

It is enough that the people know there was an election. The people who cast the votes decide nothing. The people who count the votes decide everything.

The same thing about voter fraud can be made for precinct 810. There are 96 precincts and Bell managed to win 59 of them and Flinn had 36 with a tie in one precinct.

Anonymous said...

But Flinn's were bigger precincts. He had more than half of both the election day and early voting, well under half of absentee. And Flinn won all the Palmetto Bay precincts, no surprise since he's done such a great job as mayor there.

Bell stood outside 810 all day election day, spewing her particular brand of haterism, and Flinn still kicked her butt there.

Unless, of course, some of those absentee ballots are found to be invalid upon closer examination. It's .5 percent for an automatic recount. That doesn't mean no one can look at them without that number. This is still America, dammit.

Her lead just increased by 7 votes for a total of 362.

Total vote count as of 7:35:19 pm

Lynda Bell - 21,787
Eugene Flinn - 21,425

How about Gloria Floyd not accepting voters until 08:15?

Anonymous said...

This makes me nauseous. How the heck can we still be counting votes 2 days after the election?

Comments pointing out the two stronger Bell precincts prove the power of the Christian Coalition and the Tea Party in District 8. Lynda Bell, Bileca, David Rivera, Artilles, Marco Rubio, Scott, and co. all benefited from the organizations.
When well progressive voters get it together? Where were the environmentalists, pro choice, gay rights, pro union activists in turning voters out in District 8?

The Democratic party's coordinated campaign was a joke. The Republicans know how to march in lock step with each other and Bell was a huge beneficiary, wasn't she?

This is not good news for our community. One thing is certain: Lynda Bell is NO KATY SORENSON. We are in trouble Miami Dade County unless we hold Lynda Bell accountable to stick to her anti-development pledges from numerous forums.

Knowing who funded her campaign, though, I would suspect that the UDB is in danger of being move.

"How about Gloria Floyd not accepting voters until 08:15?"

They didn't? What was their explanation?

Anonymous said...

If the election results stand, the cities in district 8 are on their own trying to hold FPL accountable.

Once the Mayor is recalled, FPL will be able to run roughshod over the environmental agencies. And with Scott at the helm as governor, the Water District and DEP will back off too.

Since we lost Rolle and now we have Jean, maybe it will be a neutralized effort. He's a good guy, maybe needs a little schooling on the UDB and deep South Dade, but he'll listen to the community. I have a feeling if this count holds (which I truly hope it doesn't, and I believe there's been fraud all over the place), Jean will be more like Katy, Bell will be like Rolle or a VNS puppet, so nothing changes. It sucks, it all sucks in regard to Dist. 8.

EoM may want to consider taking Homestead is Home off your links. They're blocking any negative postings about the election or Lynda Bell. The guy who runs this blog couldn't be a bigger Lynda fan. He wouldn't even let a post through I wrote that there could be problems with the absentee ballots. Talk about homogonized!

Geniusofdespair said...

Homestead is Home differs from us on Lynda. That is fine. We agree on a lot of other issues. I often say, if you don't like what we write, get your own blog. They have their own blog and their own view, that is okay with me.

On another subject, I would suggest District 8 unincorporated areas incorporate into cities now.

Anonymous said...

Hmmm. There was too much interference in the incorporation movement before and I don't see it getting any better. Lynda likes annexation when it builds her fiefdom or helps her friends. She probably will not want to lose control.

Anonymous said...

Actually, there are PLENTY of negative comments about Lynda on Homesteadishome. Maybe they're taking their time posting them (They do that), or maybe there would be more, but there are PLENTY.

Anonymous said...

Looks like we have to live with it. She will fit in nicely, Vile like Natasha, rambling like Souto, prone to developers and rock miners like many others and self asbsorbed like them all.

We've tried incorporating down in Redland and Redland's Edge. There is still a moretorium in place thanks to VNS. Moss went out of his way to block the Redland Incorporation, Katy allowed her portion to form a MAC, but Moss wouldn't allow his District to be included. Bell annexed part of Redland's Edge about three nano seconds after she was confirmed as Mayor. Thankfully, Mayor Bateman of Homestead is not supporting any annexations in to Redland's Edge, though, being represented by Bell makes annexing in to Homestead not sound so bad, even with the higher millage!

Can citizens raise money and pay for a recount? Do I have a right to have a recount done under public records requests, even if I have raise funds to do it?

What about the absentee ballots can we require certifying that they are registered voters and capable of voting?

The Professor said...

What concerned citizens need to understand is that some campaigns wage extreme efforts to secure absentee ballots. Gene Flinn lost to an extremely organized Republican-driven effort behind the scenes to secure absentee ballots. That's a shame because his team had the financial resources to neutralize the damage. The real victim in the absentee game was School Board candidate Libby Perez who actually beat Republican consultant and favorite son Carlos Curbelo at the polls. Perez only raised about $30,000 which was pennies compared to the Republican money and machine behind Curbelo, yet she did some serious damage in the absentee game as well. If Flinn's team knew what Perez's team knew, Flinn would be our commissioner.

Anonymous said...

Please elaborate. What sort of "extreme efforts?" No one I know, Democrat or Republican, got mailed an absentee ballot from Lynda Bell, and she wasn't listed as a Republican on the ballot, so if one came from the Republican party, she wouldn't have been on anyone's radar. So are we talking about going into nursing homes to shake down the senile? That's just wrong. The fact is, Flinn would never do anything that scummy, and if that's what it takes to get elected around here, we're in big trouble.

Anonymous said...

Absentee ballot industry is a lucrative little cottage industry here. Where is the FBI when you need them.

Anonymous said...

Anyone who sent in an absentee ballot for Flinn could probably request if their ballot was accepted and contest it, right? WHy don't we do one of those campaigns. Personally, I would never trust sending in an absentee ballot. They get rejected all the time.

I'm amazed the libs are having this discussion, this is the unions claim to fame. You are blowing it for them.

Lynda went from one church to another toting her grandchildren telling lies, batting her eyes and swearing she would do the work of the lord if elected. She played the victim stating that Flinn was playing dirty in this campaign. Thats what I call her "poor pitiful Lynda, everyone's picking on me" Tactic. Those stupid people believed every word!
It's funny how she totes that bible when it suits her cause, it's just too bad people can't see her for the lying hypocrite she really is.

Any one can track their absentee ballot on line at - http://www.miamidade.gov/elections/regist-status.asp

Of course, if you are senile or not familiar with the language or a computer, it would be impossible.

Anonymous said...

You are probably right on Unions. This was the year where pension was a dirty word.

I just looked at the stats for Gloria Floyd. There is a large Democratic Black population at that poll. If the polls were closed till 8:15, that could have hurt votes. Perhaps I am reaching.

Anonymous said...

"She played the victim stating that Flinn was playing dirty in this campaign."

Oh, I know! Flinn sent out a mailer, truthfully comparing Palmetto Bay's tax rates to Homestead's. She did a television commercial, falsely stating that he raised taxes. They came out the same day. She stood at the polls, telling everyone that she wasn't going to play dirty, but he forced her. As if that television commercial just materialized out of thin air. Also, Flinn's mailer was in response to the b.s. she put out on the PBS television interview (not to mention the fact that it seems more and more likely that she was behind Stephen Cody back in August).

Forget about everything else go to Miami dade Elections and look at results by VOTE TYPE you will see HUGE discrepencies between early-election day voting and absentee voting.

I MEAN HUGE some even reversed the outcome at the actual polls.

every dead person in district 8 casted a vote for Lynda, go figure!
