First Casulty of the Rick Scott Reign. By Geniusofdespair

Florida Trend reports that Secretary Tom Pelham of the Florida Department of Community Affairs has announced that he will be leaving the department at the end of Governor Crist's term of office. Pelham has clashed with Rick Scott over Scott's campaign attacks on DCA. "It's very discouraging to public servants, who are given a mission and responsibility to enforce laws enacted by others, to be constantly bashed for doing their job," Pelham has said.

This is a big loss, make no mistake. Without Amendment 4 and a strong Department of Community Affairs, this State is in for some shocking developments...I am talking about Real Estate Developments. I fear that we will be seeing Governor Ick Scott dismantle all that is good (which is not much) in Florida Government.

Pelham will be missed. We have not always seen eye to eye but he did his best to keep Florida growth sustainable. The stupid people of this state will regret their votes for Ick and against FHD. There are awful, mega projects just waiting in the wings. Nothing will be safe; not lakes, streams, Everglades, springs, farmland, forests or wildlife. I fear the next 4 years will see the final paving and mining of Florida. The idiots in the tri-cornerd hats may actually regret what they have created. Those who decided not to vote deserve our scorn.

The Department of Community Affairs has been protecting the public from aggressive greedy developers. The DCA needs to be strong to protect Florida.

I hope Scott does not confirm our worst fears.

The DCA is up for reauthorization this year. The weasels up there will just simply let the agency sunset and it will be no more.

This is an easy win for the Republicans since they don't even have to try.

After that, growth management will just be another Florida law that goes unenforced.
