RECALL: The Braman Financed Mayor recall is in full gear. By Geniusofdespair

Sparing no expense, Mr. Braman has hired professional petition gatherers to recall Mayor Alvarez. These gals were in a Publix shopping lot at 6pm on Monday. They didn't appear to be getting any signatures when I snapped this photo.

I am afraid of the unintended consequences of this recall. The Mayor would be removed immediately with about a year to go, and the mostly evil County Commission will appoint a replacement - a puppet, and can ram a bunch of stuff through without a veto. Vile Natacha Seijas is laughing right now...

My approach to government is first and foremost: Do no harm. The Mayor couldn't do much harm his last year, without a commission vote (he doesn't have a vote, only a veto). If I knew we were getting to vote on the replacement I would be more inclined to support a recall. But I bet that won't happen, they will plead poverty to pay for a special election and appoint.

I ran into one of these ladies in front of the Stephen Clark building.

She gave a me a look of great disdain when I told her: "no thanks."
Apparently, disagreeing with her makes me human garbage. :)

Publix shopping center? That is unusual because they have a history of not allowing petition collectors at their facilities. The Publix in Miami Lakes even took the recall Seijas petitioners to court to stop them. I was chased from a Publix parking lot in South Dade for handing out campaign fliers. Guess Publix has their favorite causes and turns a blind eye.

SECTION 8.02. RECALL.
Any member of the Board of County Commissioners, the Mayor, the Property Appraiser, the Sheriff or Constable may be removed from office by the electors of the county, district or municipality by which he was chosen.

Let's recall the Property Appraiser. That makes as much sense as recalling the Mayor.

Yes, if you recall everyone who has bad news for you...the property appraiser certainly should be recalled. Without a doubt.

They were doing a brisk business in Florida City

I still ask myself, ??Why spend time to recall a Mayor for proposing a budget that County Commissioners voted on and passed instead of making changes to it?? My time would be better spent gathering signatures to have TERM LIMITS on the ballot. Oh, and who do you think will replace our current Mayor? We won't get that vote untill 2012!

Publix, how could you allow this when you don't allow others? Perhaps we all need to reach out and threaten to shop at Winn Dixie, Target and even WalMart until they get out of the recall business.

Not supporting this recall. What a joke.

so how is Jonah and James going to attend school if you don't pay taxes for schools? Do they go to Private School? Childless people pay taxes for schools and don't complain.

As a Buddhist isn't the purpose of life to end suffering? Why not help out your fellow man who cannot afford private school or health insurance with hospitals and schools? A few more dollars in your pocket would mean less to you and more to the less fortunate.

This is what happens when you put too much information out there Milz.

Milz looks like a thug from his photo. Too much energy drink, Milz?

Oh wait, he is facebook friends with Steve Cody and Steve Losner. That really makes him special.

Milz doesn't use County Services?

Well then he must live in another County and thus his signature would be invalidated.

Because even if he lived in a municipality with Miami-Dade County, Milz would most likely be using County Services every time he took a shower (if he does so), drove on a road, flushed his toilet, used any product that arrived here via plane or ship, and every time he pulls up to a traffic signal and doesn't get T-boned by someone comming the other way, he should thank the County for having those Stop Signs and Traffic Signals there.

Alvarez is history. Braman anticipates turning in 90000 signatures. His next project will be the commission, the theme: "recall them all".

Genius,

I think you are giving the commission too much credit. I seriously doubt they will appoint someone. And if you think that they will not run look what happened in the City of Miami district 5 seat (Dunn)

About half of the county commissioners want that seat. I see an election soon...What would be more interesting is the mass exodus of politicians who will resign early to run.

For instance Gimenez runs then Lopez-Cantera runs in his seat leaving his newly won seat empty and up for another election.

Braman is throwing a monkey wrench into this whole thing. I like it.

Geniusofdespair said...

They won't all resign. They will poll first. Only the one with the best chance to be mayor will resign to run. They won't run an election because they will say it is too expensive and they want to save us money. No one can mount campaign in 45 days....(except Kendrick Meek when he ran for congress first time, who was the only one who knew his mother was going to resign).

heard Braman talk yesterday and he is an ego inflated jerk not to say that folks aren't right to be upset with elected officials for their silly expenditures...but really.

People the only reason Mayor Braman, oops I mean Norman Braman is doing this is because he hates Mayor Alvarez. He came out of the stadium deal embarrassed and this is his ticket back. Cuban Radio has served up Alvarez on a skewer and Braman wants to BBQ him. Braman does not give a rats ass about what he is preaching. He is all about profits and bottom line in business. And yes he does donate to charitable causes but he certainly gets a tax break and benefit. This whole thing is a convoluted effort to undermine the County and its officials.

Signed Again Today!

Way to go Milz, keep signing...maybe another 5,000 other fools will sign 3 or 4 times.

Anonymous said...

Oh yes, recall him!!!!!!

And multiple signings would constitute a legal issue for the signer. Like criminal?

I don't think you want to go there Milz. There are those of us who will be looking for f-r-a-u-d.

Anonymous said...

Hey Milz you need to go sign today. Don't forget.

Anonymous said...

Waste of time. Waste of $$. But I guess that's what we do here in Miami Dade instead of solving REAL problems.

Anonymous said...

So....We recall the Mayor and the County Commission doesn't call an election because too many of them want to run (3 of'em at least!).

So they appoint..... Drum Roll Please.....George Burgess as Acting Mayor, until 2012!

It keeps the adminstration intact without upsetting the BCC's power. George Burgess won't run for re-election:-) against any of the 3. And the Mayoral Election of 2012 is wide open with the three plus David Lawrence, Kathy Rundle, Roosevelt Bradley and Marcelo Llorente!!

Bigfoot!

I agree with Eye, but for those who choose to sign, look beyond the moment. Ask Braham to sink a few million into finding good mayoral and commission candidates with a chance of winning and then support them all the way.

If all you do is throw the bums out, they (or similar replacements) will just come back in.

Fill the vacuum with people with the wit, heart, and courage to do the right thing more often than they have to.

Braman spoke at the Downtown Bay Forum. He said after the Recall Carlos Alvarez petition passes that he will start petitions to recall 5 to 6 Miami-Dade County Commissioners.

In a recession and with 15% County wide unemployment Alvarez gave $122 Mil in raises to County workers.

Hey Anon, I mean Pepe, I just signed again today.

The same guy keeps on letting us do it again and again. He said he's going to bring a tee-shirt tomorrow for me and my kid. The guy must have made at least 30 bux off of me already.
