The St. Pete Times didn't hold back in its tough editorial July 18th:
State Sen. Dave Aronberg's attempt to tar his opponent in the Democratic primary for attorney general with the BP oil spill is out of bounds. By exaggerating some facts and disregarding others, Aronberg has raised the specious claim that state Sen. Dan Gelber's former association with Akerman Senterfitt, the state's largest law firm that now represents BP in Florida, conflicts with being able to act on Florida's behalf as attorney general. There is no conflict; Gelber acted honorably and resigned from the firm and Aronberg's campaign literature is dishonest.

Why isn't the Miami Herald defending the Miami-Dade local candidate?
Aronberg won't get my vote. He voted FOR nasty HB360 which lets some local governments approve master plan changes without showing road concurrency. Just what we need, more gridlock on our roads. Now his sleazy campaigning re-enforces my resolve to not see him in office. I heard both Aronberg and Gelber speak at a dinner; Gelber blew Aronberg away in content and experience.
I know both personally and they are terrific candidates -- either will make a great AG and be seven thousand times better than Bill M.
What's lost here is there was in fact a conflict, one which Dan initially refused to recognize but then a few days later to his credit acknowledged.
That doesn't excuse David continuing to harp on it. I hope they both move on.
I liked Dave Aronberg till he voted for SB 360.
