Have we been unfair to Obdulio Piedra in his run in District 8 for County Commission? By Geniusofdespair

Yes, I believe we have been harsh in one respect, I don't think he is connected to Natacha Seijas because I just looked closely at his campaign report.

I took his report and compared it with Vile Natacha Seijas's 2008 campaign report. I got tired after entering 131 of Piedra's 279 donations because there wasn't that much going on. These were the only donors they had in common in the 131 entries that I checked:

Carlos E. Martinez
Osvaldo Vento
Javier Salman
Elaine H. Black
John H. Genovese

They like him over at 255 University Drive. He got 8 donations from that address. I think as a banker, he has all these business people to hit up. He even got a donation from realtor Jeannet Slesnick. Comparing to Seijas's report does identify quickly potentially troublesome donations. If Guest Blogger Machado is right, that Obdulio is secretly endorsed by the LBA, then expect those kinds of donations soon.

LBA LBA LBA. They will help their own. Make no mistake that when he says "I will not move the line unless there is a need" And in same breath says he considers the economy a reason to move the line... He is going to move the line.

For the builders and developers, the sucky economy is reason enough to move the line and increase the value of their land which they have being purchasing during the downturn.

By the time they get pen to paper and approvals in place, they will
be ready to pick-up where they left off 3 years ago.

Obdulio is not hiding anything. He has indicated his direction at every public hearing he has attended.

Thank you Genius. I have to admit that you have been a little bit unfair on your comments regarding Obdulio.

Everyone needs to relax and let this race play itself out. It is clear now that Obdulio and Anni are the front runners for this race. Surprising enough, I would have thought Anni would have fundraised much more money due to her Marin/Union Connections.

I am looking forward to a REAL DEBATE between the candidates to discuss the real issues such as Development, FPL, Jobs and Environment.

Is there any idea if this would ever happen?

I do not agree that these are the front runners in the race just because they have raised the most money. IT ISN'T CLEAR ONE BIT!!

I agree with Genius.

I believe that this race will not be decided only on money - it helps a great deal, but its not a given.

I do believe the voters of this district, the district I live in will make an educated choice based on how the candidates address the issues of the day.

Is Carlos Martinez the former LBA president "Charlie" Martinez?

Yes he is.

What happened to Uncle Tom Taddeo? Better yet Tia Taddeo. She did not go to the LBA endorsement and she went to the BASF. Do not forget your roots "mamita"

I agree, money is not and should not be the deciding factor among the 6 candidates for County Commission. This seat should be filled based on positions regarding the UDB, economic growth and environmental sustainability, as well as the candidate's character, skills and relevant experience. The vote for a County Commissioner should NOT be based on red herrings like predictable funding sources, the life issue or whether someone is a career politician or not. Let's remember what these commissioners actually do in County government and elect the person we think will do it best on our behalf.

Received Taddeos mailer today. It is obvious that Big Steve does not have much to work with in the way of substance.

I am in a union and I just got Taddeo's large color mailer and it is printed by a NON-UNION printer. I could not find our bug anywhere on it.
After all that Union PAC money that she was given, one would think that she would use a union printer.

Genius, Genius, Genius:

There is less than 4 weeks until this race is over. This race is between the two money leaders. Flinn tomorrow will sit with his family discussing his options. He will respectfully step down and go back to practicing law. The rest are done. I know it, they know it and you need to realize it.

RECIPE TO WIN

FUNDRAISE
WALK
KNOCK

REPEAT TILL YOU WIN

To the rest of you,

you represent a very small interest within District 8. Most of you live in a bubble if you believe what you state above.

^^^Finally, Ms. Taddeo makes an appeareance on this blog!^^^

Hmm. Tomorrow is here and Flinn is sitting at a Chamber South Candidates Forum having breakfast.

I don't see withdrawal on the menu.

And isn't Oswaldo Vento Ovi Vento? Bigwig from the LBS! And where did this Javier Salman comes from? Obviously, the Carlos Salman family. LBA! And it's all over Obdulio... someone with the kind of name the LBA would endorse, secretly better! Let's not get sucked in and end up voting for "one of them"!

Piedra has proven that he is and will always be a stooge of the big developers, construction, big business interests.

District 8 has a proud history of stopping overdevelopment. We even have former official who drew a line in the sand and said NO to big busniness and special interests.

Let's not betray this tradition by electing someone who is completely the opposite of what we all stand for. Piedra and Taddeo are purely special interests.

you want to talk about LBA insiders and secrets? How about Carlos Gimenez being the do-boy for his daddy and his boss, Mr. De la Portilla?
