County's 2010 Estimate of Taxable Value in Third Year of Decline. By Geniusofdespair

And the biggest loser of them all: Drum roll....it is Homestead!

The Miami Dade Property Appraiser reports that the 2010 estimate of County taxable value is $192.484 billion -- a decline of 13.4% when compared to the 2009 figure of $222.14 billion. In 2008 we were at $245.6 billion. The new construction taxable value in the County is estimated at $2,626,000,000--a significant decline when compared to $8,379,000,000 the previous year.

Can the County's belt get any tighter, they lost $53 billion in taxable value in 2 years.

Homestead is the biggest loser. If Linda Bell thinks she skate past the rubble on her way to District 8 county commissioner, hah. Thanks to Bill Losner, Bob Eppling, and Stevie Shiver for all they did to Homestead.

I think Lynda and her council will have to own this years and last years tax rolls. It represents the rolling impact of building insanely.

Just imagine if The City of Redundancy (City of Florida City)had built out in the swamps like they wanted. Their tax rolls aren't exactly an amazing treat either.

Buckle your seatbelt and put on your helmet, its gonna be a real rough ride for this year's County budgets.

you betcha' better get a clue. As usual your hopscotch loyalty to all things liberal makes you and your point seem infantile.

Why do ya' suppose four developers joined together and dumped a quarter of a million into Homestead and in particular the Haitian vote to get Bell out? Lozner and Bell were the voices of sanity at the height of the narcotic like growth stupor that has ruined Homestead.

Many of the Bell critics dislike the RTL stance she has, but guess what that is the majority of the public's opinion and that issue will not come before the BCC.

Our problem in Miami Dade is runaway out of control development which puts everything at risk.
Better luck next time with your unverified claims. If she was against it and initiated a moratorium how is this her fault?

While you're at it name me another seat 8 candidate who was sued by a developer and who beat that developer in court.

Sorry, Lynda cannot re write her early years on the Homestead City Commission and all the crap she did approve. Placing a moretorum, after the fact, and allowing all prior approved development to go through doesn't cut it for anyone with half a brain. She is certainly part of the Homestead problem and has been for years. Being flush with money from impact fees helped her reduce the millage. Now look at the mess she's left for any future Council. I'm not a fan of Homestead, never have been, but I am a Dist. 8 voter. Any one can pull the public record regarding her voting - when she was first on the Council. Sorry, can't un wind a clock!

Bell scares them all anon 4, the reason is she has an excellent record and is articulate. Watch the others rehearse from notes. No independent thought processes.

Wait a second.

Who says I am a liberal? I don't think so.

And I don't think I even mentioned Lynda's stance on anything but development.

Also, I don't see what anything except the voter rolls has anything to do with the current post.

PS: One can sue a tree and win, if the law is on your side. The case law has something to do with whether or not your lawsuit holds water.

Bell is a politician. She should be articulate. BS doesn't need factual notes. She has sound bites rehearsed well and convenient memories of her version of events. Nope, she doesn't scare or fool anyone but herself.

And if you don't think the RTL issue isn't part of local politics, obviously you haven't been paying attention to JMH.

With the Commission positioning themselves to install a self appointed board to replace the current semiautonomous board, suddenly hospital policies at JMH are commission business.

And one thing Bell is really good at is playing the martyr. Just look at the flap over the confederate flag. She acted like it was her civil rights that were being trampled while she quietly backed the chamber's decision to allow the pretend confederate soldiers to march in the veterans day parade. Then acted as if it was just coincidence that Homestead moved to disband the group that originally objected.

Someone said you can't unwind a clock, but with Bell, you sure are turning it back.

Bell's campaign method of choice is to play the victim. She is the master of deflection; that is to say she will blame or condem her opponents for doing something that she is doing and that the others are probably not. Her signs are all over the right of ways in Homestead and out on Krome Ave. north of Avocado Dr. If any of the others were doing the same, she would be in a snit but it is OK if she does it. You know, better to ask forgiveness than permission. I have heard she is placing signs in yards of those she assumes will permit it. Woe be unto those who remove it, though. Her whole demeanor is black and white, yes and no with no respect for any opinion other than hers.
