What's 'UP' with the George Merrick Statue? By Geniusofdespair

About 4 or 5 years ago this statue of George Merrick was placed in front of Coral Gables City Hall. I did not retouch the photo.

"Incorporated on April 29, 1925, the City of Coral Gables is celebrating its 85th Anniversary with an open house on Thursday, April 29, from 2-6 p.m. at the Merrick House, 907 Coral Way." (Developer George Merrick is considered the 'architect' of the city so those are plans he is holding.)

G.O.D., great pic! Good for a laugh, some great comments and (I hope) an example of how one's perspective influences their opinion. Do a search on Google for a pic of another angle...HARDly controversial.

I suggest that we erect a statue to the "Father of Extreme West Kendall". This could be a somewhat younger and slimmer Joe Martinez standing next to some road survey equipment. It could be placed inside a large traffic circle just shy of the wetlands out there. If we do not memorialize, we may forget.
