District 8 Rumors & Facts. By Geniusofdespair

I previously said there was a rumor that Anette Taddeo was getting in the race. Now I hear she is talking to rain-maker/city hall lobbyist/campaign mgr. Steve Marin about running her campaign. Rumors are flying that Congresswoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen is pissed that Taddeo is running, which could set Taddeo up for another go at Ileana's seat. Marin has worked on the campaigns of Ileana (which makes me doubt he would work for Taddeo), Manny Diaz, Evelyn Greer, Carlos Lopez Cantera, David Rivera, Frank Carollo - gave to Frances Suarez's campaign, his own name and his corp. Tristen Development.

The campaign reports in District 8 offered us little of note except a few tidbits such as, withdrawn candidate, Carlos Pereira, got $250 from disgraced Catholic priest Alberto Cutie and Gene Flinn got a donation of $500 from the turncoat lobbyist Miguel Diaz de la Portilla. The front runner in the campaign money dept., Albert Harum Alvarez did make a sizable donation to his own campaign.

I noticed that Bell hasn't filed financials yet and Harum Alvarez took a $500 donation from the federally indicted food tainter Peter Schnebly. Wonder what Peter wants from him? hmmmm

The Taddeo thing is fascinating. I can't wait until June 2nd to see who's really in and out of this race.

Hello, Albert again! We received 100 donations of $100 or less, THREE times more than ANY other County Commission candidate, including incumbents, all collected in less than half the time of most other candidates. Ours is the only campaign with broad grassroots support: $10 and $20 checks from folks on fixed incomes who actually live in the district.

In terms of new money—not candidate loans or money transferred from previous quarters—we raised three times as much as Mr. Pereira, who came in second in actual new money. Mr. Pereira has left the race.

I'm grateful to my family, friends and neighbors who make up my donor list. If developers, downtown law firms and even FPL choose to donate to my campaign, I'll welcome their support of good government! Because that is what they'll get from me. You can take THAT to the bank.

Steve Marin is the lowest of the low. He gets paid to force elected officials desperate for money and ego gratification to pay his clients. He benefits. Watch the taxpayers get screwed.

I really hope the voters in Dist. 8 are paying attention to the candidates - once the dust settles and we find out who's in and who's out. I also hope the candidates behave themselves, which they seem to be doing right now. That is a positive note. This seems to be a something for everyone race with no clear front runner, to me, but I bet some of candidates supporters wouldn't see it that way.

Watch the buying of votes at old folks homes? The buying of absentee ballots?

Wasn't Steve Marin involved with a handfull of "no bid" contracts approved by Manny Diaz and Joe Arriola several years ago? It was reported Marin's clients doubled the amount on their "no bid" contracts and Joe Arriola approved it...

Whenever you see Steve Marin lurking around a government office or slyly meeting an elected official at a restaurant you can be sure "the fix is in".
