I suspect the new kid on the block is a bully. By Geniuofdespair

Meet CITIZENS FOR LOWER TAXES AND A STRONGER ECONOMY, INC.

The only person who signed the Corporate papers (filed January 21st) for this 501c4 is Richard E. Coates, a Tallahassee lobbyist, who also happens to have as a client Barney Bishop's "Associated Industries of Florida". Coates law firm is also representing former State Rep. Ray Sansom in his lawsuit. Hmmm.

I think that this group will be trying to influence you against Amendment 4. Maybe the PAC, "Floridians for Smarter Growth," wasn't enough for the business community. I am sure the name Citizens for Lower Taxes and a Stronger Economy, Inc. polled strongly. Just wait friends and neighbors, you will be hearing plenty from this group in the near future! Oh, almost forgot, the address of this 501c4 is the same address as Senator Jeff Atwater's "Preserve the American Dream."

Florida Hometown Democracy's Amendment 4 which gives the voters the final say on land use changes in their communities will pass overwhelming if the residents who value the quality of life in their towns vote. They will not be swayed by the lies of the builder financed groups such as Floridian's for Smarter (dumber) Growth or anything they morph into. Residents are fed up with the overdevelopment and elected officials and their resulting real estate bubble. They want to regain their home values. They want to decide what is right for THEIR neighborhoods.

I never heard any comments on the Amendment 4 debate between Blackner and Schulman recently held at the Rusty Pelican? Many people in Pinecrest/Coral Gables/South Miami are curious about the amendment and have expressed interest in attending a debate. Are more scheduled?

If you would like a speaker to come to your group or association send an email to flhometown@yahoo.com and let them know where and when your meeting is and they will get back to you.

the whole problem is that the Hometown Democracy movement stems from a deep distrust of elected politicians and the decisions they make.

So, let's get this straight, the uninformed voter, who continually votes in politicians they can not trust... are going to vote on each and every single comp plan amendment.

A great plan!

No not quite. In Miami Dade county it would be a county-wide boat. So that the morons who vote to keep a Natacha Seijas or Pepe Diaz in office would be watered down by the other 12 districts voters.

In a city, comp plan change the entire city would vote. People care more about their neighborhoods than you think doubting Thomas.

that was VOTE not boat. sorry.

So the people who live in Miami can vote on stuff in the unincorporated part of the county, but we in the "county" can't vote on the City of Miami's plans?

Sounds fair.
