It's Official: Maurice Ferre is running for U.S. Senate. By Geniusofdespair

I don't for a minute think he is a spoiler. If the Republicans have two candidates to choose from why shouldn't the Democrats? The Republicans, of course, don't have two credible choices like the Democrats do now. Wait, let me read my Meek files again.

I was an interviewer for the Miami Dade County Mayors race -- we were a group endorsing. I found Ferre at ease, smart and on top of the issues. I think he will make a fine candidate. The age will haunt him but Kendrick Meek, born in 1966 would make him, at age 43, the third youngest in the senate. Which is better? Kendrick Meek could serve in the senate for another 40 years. Is that in our best interest. Charlie Crist has 10 years on Kendrick Meek

Ferre is a great addition to the race. He brings forth a great deal of experience, and has always been a man of vision. We need that in our "Lost Paradise" of a State. I think he has an ability to excite the citizens of Florida to redirect our course. I just don't think Meek has the strength to challenge Crist or Rubio to such a match. And there's no doubt this will be quite the battle. We need someone extremely sharp and aggressive. This is very good news.

I wonder what will come out of Ferre's years taking campaign contributions from developers ... but that was in the 19th century, wasn't it?

I am thrilled that someone fairly respectful is running against Meek. I do not think Meek would be a good Senator.

If you are not already registered Republican, switch parties and vote for Crist in the primary...Rubio is the scariest thing in a long while..the rest of the state will not vote for Ferre and as bad as it is, hardly any one knows Kevin Burns...if the election were held tomorrow and it was Crist vs Meek, I would get that overused "voting clothespin" to clip on my nose and vote for Crist...Meek? Aboslutely not never no way.

I was thinking about switching parties just so I could vote in the primaries, but I want to vote in both primaries...

There are 26 Senators over the age of 70 _ who's gonna tell them they are too old for the Senate. Ferre has an incredible amount of experience and incredible connection with the people of Florida. His age and breadth of experience will be an asset to Florida and the Senate. http://bit.ly/senatorages
