Blog to Blog: In the Banana Republican at Miami New Times, Francisco Alvarado agrees with us on Natacha Seijas's worthiness in getting the Orchid portion of the Hybrid Award from the Urban Environment League:
"One environmentalist, Alan Farago, aka Gimleteye, over at Eye On Miami, wasn't too keen on bestowing green consciousness on Seijas, and rightly so. Of all the 13 county commissioners, Seijas is perhaps the most beholden to developers and the bankers who finance them."

You should have a domain www.eyeonmiami.org and www.eyeonmiami.com to transfer visitors here. Also, hold a fund raising drive and I bet you could raise some money to do more investigations.
You could make shirts and hats. That way those of us who read your site every day could identify each other on the street :)
I like the shirts and hat idea
I never wear a hat and my shirts are painful to see. How about a badge?
I think Mr. Freer should think about badges too...
I doubt any reporter knows Seijas better than Alvarado. He has done so many articles about her, including a stake-out of her property and his famous Wicked. If Alvarado thinks the orchid award for Seijas is a joke, I have to agree with him. What was the UEL thinking? Her "environmental" wash of her pro-developer positions is Seijas playing green politics because she has to , not because she believes it. Her votes in the future will confirm that she has not changed a thing.
Has she eaten a sea cow lately?
Seijas follows the money (makes herself important to FPL, etc.) She also pretends to be an environmentalist and then people get confused when she does things that are the opposite of environmental. Following the money and pretending to be green makes her look good, she can get some free trips out of it, and it can bring in money that she can take credit for and then direct how she wants to spend it. Water and Sewere has the most money of any department. Seijas had a position created for her former assitant, Marybell Bal(? Baldwin?) at Water and Sewer doing conservation. Now she sees the money and the glory moving to the Sustainability Office , so she requested to have water conservation moved over to Sustainability (see page 10 of Mayor's budget message). She has her claws into everything. One thing I can't figure - what big skeleton does the manager and /or the mayor have in the closet that has them caving in to her every request? Maybe they are considering run for office that she can help fund? Or maybe she has just promised them jobs with FPL after their term expires.
