The Miami Herald shifted one of its top investigative reporters, Matt Haggman, from real estate to local coverage. Haggman was a principal writer in the outstanding Herald series, "Borrowers Betrayed". During the course of his tenure on the real estate desk, coverage improved. (It couldn't have been worse during the construction boom and housing bubble.) "Borrowers Betrayed", in my opinion, would have won a Pulitzer if editors had chased the story up the economic and political food chain. Too bad, because the biggest blockbusters of that story remain untold in the mainstream press. Recently Haggman and Jack Dolan broke the story on the county commissioners chauffered by cops. Great story. There hasn't been a journalist strong as Haggman on the local beat for a long time. Miami should be very pleased with this change.

Sorry Jack, we made a correction in the story. We are told that Matt Haggman and you are covering the county and Chuck Rabin is on the City of Miami beat.

Great news...the Herald is going to have a Metro section again!
When will we see a story about City of Miami policemen driving Commissioner Spence-Jones 24/7 and even running her errands? Picking up her kid at day-care? Her dry cleaning? Campaign stops.
Shouldn't cops be on the streets fighting crime?
