In it you can hear two of the current Grande Dames of Everglades Restoration happy for once: Shannon Estenoz (South Florida Water Management District) and Mary Barley (The Everglades Foundation). It is not often Everglades news is positive, for example the injunction issued on the Dexter Lehitinen/Miccosukee Lawsuit that stopped Mod Waters (a bridge to allow water flow), announced in the Miami Herald today couldn’t be making these 2 gals happy. Crist deal with US sugar is a big ripoff that only serves to bailout US Sugar at the expense of taxpayers in 16 Florida Counties (includig, SURPRISE!!! Miami-Dade. We (and I MEAN WE) are paying too much for the land and the lease back from State to US Sugar is below market. It's a REAL SWEET Deal for US Sugar unfortunately we are on the other end (taking it).
