Palin's stand on principle appeared to hurt her, according to a CNN/Opinion Research Corp. Poll of debate watchers.
Only 26 per cent of those surveyed said the 44-year-old former beauty pageant runner-up was more intelligent in the debate compared to the 57 per cent who chose Democratic Vice Presidential nominee Biden, according to the poll of 611 adult Americans, who tuned in to watch it.
Overall, 51 per cent of viewers said Biden did the best job in the debate, while 36 per cent gave the nod to Palin. On the question of the candidates' qualifications to assume the presidency, 87 percent of those polled said Biden is qualified and 42 percent said Palin is qualified. But guess who was seen as more likable, 54% to 36%?

Don't think Palin was likable. I liked Biden 10 times better.
Then you like to be lied to fourteen times.
1. TAX VOTE: Biden said McCain voted “the exact same way” as Obama to increase taxes on Americans earning just $42,000, but McCain DID NOT VOTE THAT WAY.
2. AHMADINEJAD MEETING: Joe Biden lied when he said that Barack Obama never said that he would sit down unconditionally with Mahmoud Ahmadinejad of Iran. Barack Obama did say specifically, and Joe Biden attacked him for it.
3. OFFSHORE OIL DRILLING: Biden said, “Drill we must.” But Biden has opposed offshore drilling and even compared offshore drilling to “raping” the Outer Continental Shelf.”
4. TROOP FUNDING: Joe Biden lied when he indicated that John McCain and Barack Obama voted the same way against funding the troops in the field. John McCain opposed a bill that included a timeline, that the President of the United States had already said he would veto regardless of it’s passage.
5. OPPOSING CLEAN COAL: Biden says he’s always been for clean coal, but he just told a voter that he is against clean coal and any new coal plants in America and has a record of voting against clean coal and coal in the U.S. Senate.
6. ALTERNATIVE ENERGY VOTES: According to FactCheck.org, Biden is exaggerating and overstating John McCain’s record voting for alternative energy when he says he voted against it 23 times.
7. HEALTH INSURANCE: Biden falsely said McCain will raise taxes on people’s health insurance coverage — they get a tax credit to offset any tax hike. Independent fact checkers have confirmed this attack is false
8. OIL TAXES: Biden falsely said Palin supported a windfall profits tax in Alaska — she reformed the state tax and revenue system, it’s not a windfall profits tax.
9. AFGHANISTAN / GEN. MCKIERNAN COMMENTS: Biden said that top military commander in Iraq said the principles of the surge could not be applied to Afghanistan, but the commander of NATO’s International Security Assistance Force Gen. David D. McKiernan said that there were principles of the surge strategy, including working with tribes, that could be applied in Afghanistan.
10. REGULATION: Biden falsely said McCain weakened regulation — he actually called for more regulation on Fannie and Freddie.
11. IRAQ: When Joe Biden lied when he said that John McCain was “dead wrong on Iraq”, because Joe Biden shared the same vote to authorize the war and differed on the surge strategy where they John McCain has been proven right.
12. TAX INCREASES: Biden said Americans earning less than $250,000 wouldn’t see higher taxes, but the Obama-Biden tax plan would raise taxes on individuals making $200,000 or more.
13. BAILOUT: Biden said the economic rescue legislation matches the four principles that Obama laid out, but in reality it doesn’t meet two of the four principles that Obama outlined on Sept. 19, which were that it include an emergency economic stimulus package, and that it be part of “part of a globally coordinated effort with our partners in the G-20.”
14. REAGAN TAX RATES: Biden is wrong in saying that under Obama, Americans won’t pay any more in taxes then they did under Reagan.
I think a CNN poll is clearly biased.
Let's give credit where credit is deserved, they both did a great job!
Palin lied during the debate:
FACT: The Senate has voted only once this year on legislation that would change bankruptcy laws to help distressed homeowners. John McCain was absent for that vote. Contrary to what Palin says, the McCain campaign acknowledges that he does not support those changes to bankruptcy laws.
Palin on Troop Levels in Iraq
During an exchange on Iraq, Palin erroneously claimed the United States is down to presurge levels in Iraq. Palin said, "We have got to win Iraq. And with the surge that has worked we're now down to presurge numbers in Iraq. That's where we could be." Palin is incorrect.
FACT: The Alaska governor is wrong because the number of troops on the ground is still higher and the number of combat brigades is the same as at the start of the surge in January 2007, according to Pentagon figures. Iraq troop levels before the surge were at 133,500. While U.S. troop levels in Iraq have been in the 142,000 range recently, today they are at around 150,000 because of an ongoing troop rotation.
At one point Palin said, "First, McClellan did not say definitively that the surge principles would not work in Afghanistan. Certain accounting for different conditions in that country and conditions are certainly different."
Palin argued that Obama has voted to increase taxes 94 times. Palin said, "Barack had 94 opportunities to side on the people's side and reduce taxes and 94 times he voted to increase taxes or not support a tax reduction. Ninety-four times."
FACT: That's a wildly inflated number Palin threw out; the actual number is closer to half that.
Both Commenters:
Stop posting this fact crap, it is on enough other websies.
Palin certainly has the political wink down, now all she has to do learn the secret handshake, then she will be good to go. I think Biden was more professional acting... Palin was flippant and too cutesy for anyone I would care to vote. What is she going to do wink and say "you betcha" every time she meets a chief of state... if she every sits down to speak to one?
I can't wait until this is over and Ms Palin and her entourage ( why aren't these kids in school ? ) go back to doing what they do best, firing those who don't agree with them and helping "big oil" continue raping the Alaskan wilderness all the while waiting for the rapture..yuk indeed.
SEARCHING FOR THE PERFECT WORD: The reader two above "enough cutesy" used the word that describes Sara Palin:
FLIPPANT: Marked by disrespectful levity or casualness; pert.
That fits the bill for me.
If Palin is flippant, what could Barney Frank be called then?
The last anon comment is really typical of the left wing spin. Questioning Palin's maternal responsibilities (this was not an issue with Hillary), firing those who don't agree with them(this has already become a non issue), but what does that say about Barack and his long term negative and shady associations-Wright, Ayers, Rezco, and big oil-please.
Barney Frank is not going to be one heartbeat away from the presidency.
Thank God he is noT!
What great news about Barney...
