High on the Barf-o-Meter: Dorrin Rolle Gets an Award Sept. 12th as a “Pillar” of the Black Community. By Geniusofdespair

Miami Dade County Commissioner Rolle was selected to get a Pillar’s Award for “Public Service” for 2008. He was selected by the Black Affairs Advisory Board’s Heritage Planning Committee. He will be formally recognized at the Eighth Annual Pillars Awards Dinner. If you want to go, tickets are $60 per person and sponsorship packages are available.

I was thinking they were hard up for someone in that category but then I saw who makes up the group: County Employees! “The group is comprised of volunteer Miami-Dade County employees who plan and implement activities that highlight the rich cultural contributions of the African Diaspora.” The Black Affairs Advisory Board Trust Fund got $12,100 from Commissioners’ Discretionary funds in 2006-07 (none from Rolle, maybe he was anticipating the award).

So it seems they are just giving an award to “one of their bosses.”

Agree! Dorin Rolle represents the worst aspects of African American "leadership" in Miami Dade. All those campaign contributions from developers outside his district: that's the pillar of the black community.

The funds outside the district holds true for the commissioners, mayor and the school board.

It is too bad leaders like Gepsie Metellus don't live in Rolle's District to have run against that clown. Dorrin Rolle is a sorry excuse for a commissioner and needs to go away already. Is this pillar award sloping like the leaning Tower of Pisa?

Why isn't he in jail yet?
He disgusts me.
He sends out the glossiest little booklet every now and then to those who have the unfortunate luck to live in his district and it's just one big promo for HIM, with that "I just swallowed the canary" expression in every photo, of which there are many and they ALL include him of course. This is his from his discretionary fund, which in fact, we all fund. Although it's the least of his downfalls, it's the one I see 2 or 3 times a year..

Miami Dade Empowerment Zone Trust let him have $600,000 for neighborhood block parties. Taxes paying for his goodwill in the neighborhood diverted from the job creation those funds are intended for. Pillager not pillar should be his title.
