Here is another example of the Ethics Commission never finding any unethical: Ethics investigation into consultant Cancela closed. According to Reporters Brian Bandell and Oscar Pedro Musibay:
"Media consultant Jose Cancela and his company Hispanic USA began working for the foundation in October 2005 on an $8,500 a month retainer. He also registered with the county as a lobbyist for the foundation in June 2007.
The ethics report shows he lobbied for a billboard company that subsequently got $195,500 in bookings with the hospital.
Rosy Cancela sits on the board of both the foundation and the Miami-Dade Public Health Trust, which oversees the county's public hospital system." and believe it or not:
"Rosy Cancela told the Business Journal for a prior story that she didn't know her ex-husband was on the foundation payroll."
Has the Ethics Commission ever found anything unethical? Not that I can recall. Hmmm...was it them that made vile Natacha apologize to Gwen Margolis for threatening to send her home in a body bag? No, I think it was the hand-slapping State Attorney's office. If you or I made that kind of threat, we would be in jail.

Joe Martinez should have already been indited or something!
You're right: the county ethics commission should have been abolished a long time ago. It's a waste of taxpayer dollars; useless. Who is served by its work?
The only purpose of the M-D Ethics Commission is to legitimize the misdeeds committed by our elected officials and their lobbyist friends. The citizens may file complaints for clear ethics violations, but the commission NEVER finds responsibility and if they do, the fines are so ridiculous (Manny Diaz, Chief Timoney, etc.) that the expenses outweigh the results.
Let's investigate what this irrelevant office costs taxpayers and suggest to the Mayor and commissioners its elimination. The county will save thousands of dollars w/o cutting needed services to the residents of Dade County.
AMEN! When it comes to politicians all the Ethics Comm can see are "grey areas". As a county employee, I guarantee you that if I accepted a free house or car from a vendor, I'd be fired and brought up on criminal charges.
