I will take a guess. I know a woman who as a child belonged to a denomination that prohibited girls and women from cutting their hair above a certain point. This is probably why the women in Texas wear large braids in the back. It keeps their hair off of their faces.
Incidentally, she also was prohibited from wearing pants. Ugh!
I saw photos of one of these ladies working in the field in the Texas heat while dressed in one of those long, draggy, high-collared, long-sleeved dresses. It made me feel hot and faint just to look at the photo.
I mean, wow, all the disadvantages of being a traditional "unliberated" woman, with none of the protections ostensibly accorded to women in this condition. I thought field work was "mens' work".
At least they wear sensible shoes. No 4-inch spikes on these ladies!!
What a nasty, limited, oppressive, authoritarian little society they have there.
What's hard to believe is that most of these people will return to the fold at the earliest opportunity because they have been raised in this and don't know anything else, like the trained fleas that wouldn't jump higher than the rim of the jar after the lid was removed, because they had been so conditioned to low limits.
Anyone want to take a stab at explaining the hair to me. I just don't get it. The hair thing has me scared. Do you think these women vote?

in the same vein. what happens if the environmental groups call a "hold the line" press conference, and barely anyone shows up?
