Hud Takeover of Housing in Miami Dade County by Geniusofdespair

The question of the day. Should Hud takeover our corrupt, Housing Agency or is the person at the helm of Hud going to create an even worse situation? Does he really have a barbed wire soul like this poster suggests? Most of the money in the Agency is HUD money. I vote for the HUD takeover but I only know what I read in the paper. I saw Commissioner Audrey Edmonson standing next to the Mayor and I said to myself: "That just won't do. Nope." Hud for me over Audrey.

I think that the afordable housing folks are really divided about this one, because guess who is gonna be in charge of HUD from Washington but... the latin builders! It is their man who is asst. departement chief of the Federal HUD and for many years close associate to Latin Builders on moving the UDB among other issues. Also, the history of this Federal HUD with blacks in New Orleans is none too good. Things are not so clear on this issue and nobody has the best interest of affordable housing in mind, except the Umoja village activists and they have been sidelined by everybody because they are in the way of PROFITS. Why do the Latin Builders want HUD money, well it is starting to look good considering the rest of the construction industry.

you can't hang this fiasco on Alvarez.

He should fight this, the Feds have an agenda, and it's not in the best interest of those people who need these services.

HUD did not deal with the County in Good Faith.

Just ask, when the Feds are in control, who are you going to complain to if you have a problem?

All I needed to see was Aubrey Edmondson standing next to Carlos Alvarez to know that if she was opposed to HUD taking over than HUD definitely needed to take over QUICK. Some news reports say $60+ Mil was taken. Who has our money?

Who supplies most of the money? The feds do, so why should they not run it? The county has many things to keep it busy, let HUD focus on the Housing Agency and our county focus on all the other things that seem to be going poorly like the airport, seaport, water and sewer, etc.

Thing thing that bugs me most with the county is lack of oversight. How do they measure how they and their contractors doing? Where are the indicators on how any one of our services are doing?

Who do you complain to with the County? And to what avail?

I do not think it matters who you complain to.

I am sure that the fun is not over yet.

Who took the taxpayers money? Who is fighting to get our money back?

HUD will be conducting investigations to locate the lost millions. I am sure there will be several high-profile arrests of county personnel. Why do you think the county is fighting this takeover so hard?
