Commissioner Natacha Seijas trying to redeem herself. By geniusofdespair

Using FEEL GOOD legislation Natacha Seijas is trying to redeem herself and pander to her base. She sponsored this legislation 1/30/07 and it was adopted 2/6/07:

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MIAMI-DADE COUNTY that the month of May is hereby declared Month of Commemoration of Cuba and the Cuban American Experience in Miami-Dade County, and the County Manager is hereby authorized and directed to effectuate the intent of this resolution through all appropriate means.

Hmm. Wonder what that could mean?

In Miami every month is Cuba month.

when is Peru month? They have to celebrate Peru month. And what about Haitian month. It could be February every leap year since Baby Doc was removed from office on February 29th.

keep an eye out, she is probably gunning for $$$ for a public celebration somewhere in her district with more free food for her constituents and is getting it budgeted for thru this legislation.

Natacha Seijas' downtown office number is 305-375-4831. Everyone should call her tomorrow, asking that their own nationality be accorded the same privilege as Cuba: their own commemorative month. Venezuela, Peru, Colombia, Haiti, Kenya, Mexico, El Salvador: just call and leave the message at the switchboard. Maybe she'll get the message, maybe she won't, but you'll feel better for calling.
